They will play the DVD for a short period of time and then will crash for no reason. I have tried multiple reboots and startup configurations but nothing seems to get rid of the problem. My mom sent me Seinfeld Season 4 for my birthday, but I have no TV so this laptop DVD player must work. Anyone with some advise? As always, thanks for reading.

P.S. I have posted about this before but didn't really get many quality responses. I work a ton so if before I was not responded quickly enough I will try to do better this time around. Thank you!

Nero has a utility to test your CD-ROM/DVD-ROM. Perhaps you can use it to check your read rates and see if there is a problem with yuor drive.

Have you tried PowerDVD, WinDVD or VLC?

Sorry for the late response(s) I have been busy as heck. I will try these other companies but why would both MediaPlayer and Interactual fail?

I tried Nero DVD Speed and I get a Read error at 0.00 GB (code 056F03). Could this be the problem?

It can initially play the DVD and can play it for like 25 minutes then dies. Is this a common problem?

I had a similar problem a while back. I tried like 4 different DVD players (not including window media player). The only thing that fixed it was a format/reinstall. Does it play CDs ok? If yes, then backup and go for it.

PowerDVD rocks, only problem I have ever had with it was with FarScape: The Peacekeeper Wars which apparently has some sort of protection to keep it from playing on your computer. I had to rip it just to watch it. :|

I generally do this with most of the DVDs I own. RegionFree DVD + CSSFree does the job as well.

Media Player Classic can play it too. If that doesn't work it's either a bad DVD drive or time to reformat/reinstall.
