I thank Zen for introducing to me the notion that why I believed I suffered wasn't the real problem. It caused me to focus on my assumptions. What I discovered in one small instant when my focus shifted from deep introspection to external awareness was that my problem with the fact that life is meaningless is as meaningless as everything else. It has nothing to do with anything.
Zen has to be experienced in order to understand and neither I nor most people really have the patience or faith to really see that, but I've seen it in others. It can be transformative.

Felt like killing stuff. Took a break and there are now six less trees in the world.

They were slated to come down anyways before spring and this seemed like a good time for a little exercise.

Just little ones. 4-6" diameter and 20' or so.

Just sayin', that is never a good way to start off any statement. In fact, it gives off a major "red-flag" type vibe.

Big time. :confused_old:

look on the bright side though

you could be one of any one of the quintillion lifeforms that have existed in the past, whose life was ended by some larger lifeform painfully devouring it

but you aren't

and since you are unlikely to be devoured, you are already doing way better than most everything that ever lived

Yeah, but just think of when you die... you could be reincarnated as a lifeform that gets painfully devoured by a larger lifeform.

I think the OP is onto something. As a parting gift, BCBS of GA (aka Anthem) just decided that my ambulance ride back in July wasn't deserving of more than 40% of the county ambulance cost. Imagine calling 911 for an unconscious spouse covered on your plan and finding out five months later, the day after Xmas, that they only cover 40% even though you already met both your deductible and maximum out of pocket costs. Still, they decide to only cover 40% of it. Nice.

The silver lining of all of this is that had I been on my employers [so called] insurance they would have said that the $75K in bills still wouldn't have met the $2K deductible because my employer is a POS. Go silver linings!

Every moment is a chance for a different future. It may be Better or it may be Worse. I disagree with the premise.

What you're experiencing is dukka, or suffering. The Budda (this is your life)
