I cannot understand how this was allowed to happen, honestly. The judge and prosecuting attorney should be ashamed.

Take him out back and put a bullet in his head, IMHO. He isn't ever going to stop.

It happened (in 2022) before he got arrested originally but after what he was arrested for in 2023 (which was for what he did in 2020).
 
I think I understand what’s happening here. These people don’t fit in anywhere because of their perversions but because the Republican Party has become an identity as opposed to a political party with solutions to societal issues, they have been able to assimilate with republicans easily simply by parroting their talking points and emulating their behavior.

If that’s not it then I have no idea why these deplorables keep popping up in Republican power circles.

A state house investigation last week determined that he supplied alcohol to the intern and another young staffer, had sex with the intern after she had become intoxicated, and later showed her a threatening email while saying everything would be fine if she kept quiet about the encounter.

House investigators noted as well that Slaton had asked a fellow lawmaker to keep his behavior secret.

Note, he has not been indicted by any DA and likely never will be (unless the victim files charges herself) because Texas looks after its own.

Bonus:

[The victim] told her friends Slaton drove her home the next morning, stopping at a drugstore so she could obtain emergency contraception.

Slaton at one point proposed to penalize the use of emergency contraception, including what is known as the Plan B pill.
