Everquest Next announcement coming 2 August in Vegas

My reaction to the announcement was that it sounded likely to not be good, and to be overly about a few 'oh my gosh' features. Like to see them invest in the original EQ.

It's amazing what little information about EQN has come out over the last year. It seems they are struggling with it.

Even with Landmark. That came into existence (with a closed beta) last December? Nearly a year later and they've done exactly this:

1) Added water.
2) Added glass materials.
3) Combat being added "soon".

Really?

You're right. I haven't heard a word about the development plans or updates on the new game. Landmark is barely making any progress at all - and they've already taken a lot of money with their pre-sale scheme.

I don't know if no information means they are struggling with it, I'd say more likely they want to minimize the information that goes out about their design intentions. After Planetside 2, they learned that you can't give the existing game's fanbase a completely different product and expect a high level of continued loyalty based solely on the first game.
