Evercase question

today we were building a ring with a evercase no power supplier case from New Egg. We were confused because the case dont have white plastic pins to hold the mobo to the chasis, IT only with the screws, there are small bumps with a hole for a screw. We are afraid to fry the mobo, Do you guys have any experience with this case. I remember with my Asus to get a ground screw in the middle and the other the have a washer for the chasis but we did not see any washer for the screws. Thanks
 
those 'bumps' are intended help to support the motherboard. It is up to you to determine whether or not your particular motherboard will not or will be 'shorted'! If your motherboard has a 'ground trace ring' (a hole where a mounting standoff would mount) touching the bump, it is probably alright! (the motherboard is intended to be grounded there) If there are any components, any conductive traces, or anything other than a 'ground trace ring' sitting on the 'bump'; chances are very likely that you would have a short condition.
I have recently seen on this forum, comments from someone who had assembled a new 'box' using an Evercase 4252; he layed down a small piece of electrical or duct tape to make sure he didn't short something out! Another solution might be to 'dimple' the center of the 'bump' to move it slightly away from the bottom of the motherboard; then put a small 'peel & stick rubber foot' (such as Radio Shack # 64-2346 : a package of 12 for $ 1.49 ) in the center of the 'dimple' to touch the bottom of the motherboard! Just make sure you place a 2x4 under the area of the 'dimple' that you want to 'lower' and use about a 12 ounce ball pein hammer (the ball end) and whack it lightly until you get the desired result.

I have recently purchased the same 4252 Evercase; IMHO is a cheap case, that verges on being a P.O.S.! (I bought from NewEgg, also; paid only $37 including shipping. Good case for someone with a lot of experience & knowledge for modifying and who wants something cheap to 'hack'! Would buy another if I had the need for it within the next 6 months! NOT a case for a first or second time builder! IMHO) I have'nt had the chance to do a 'trial fit' of the motherboard that is going into that case; if I have a problem, the offending 'bump' is gonna get cut out completely. For me a poorly placed 'bump' in the mobo mounting 'tray' is just a 'minor bump in the road of life' ! haha, I'm a poet, or something!

Thanks Eddie, I went to the Library and checked Scott Muller book. and at same time checked your thread. The mounting bumps in this case are touching the solder ring in the mobo holes as the way we set it up Monday was good.
 
If your worried about your motherboard grounding on the bumps, just put a piece of electrical tape over each of the bumps. Poke holes in the tape for the screws to go though; not a big deal. The screws will still ground the board but the bottom of the board will not ground against the bumps.
 
I just got it after ordering one on Monday and i think its great, of course i dont believe in spending a whole lot of money on a case and i usually pick up generic ones
 
yeah is really great case indeed, the only thing I dont like is the reset button and the USB cables for the front ,too small, but anything else is great. We fire up the ring today with this .
 
just stock up on your supply of toothpicks for those Evercase reset buttons! I have 2 older model Evercase's running Windoze 98 and always have a good supply of toothpicks sitting on top of the case!
 
As a side note do any of you have 2 cd drives in the evercase? i have my burner at the top and other right below, but my burner makes a ton of noise when i put a cd in it, should i bump my other drive down a slot? otherwise i love the case. 2 fans side in rear out, 2 fan antec psu, keepin it a chilly 35 deg. C, gets up to 39/40 when in heavy use. easy to build tho,

It's a plextor 8x4x32, and its making normal (pretty much) drive spinning noise but just way too loud.

I have been really impressed so far with my evercase. I have a XP 1700+ and the extra fan blowing on it from the side case fan works out really good. I also have an enermax thermal fan in the front, to blow between my 2 IBM HDD in the bottom cage. Overall, I have never seen a case that you can fit so many drives in a mid tower format.
 
I have the enermax fan blowing outake in the rear, in the low front i have a panaflo 92mm colling the hard drive.
 
I have this case the 4252 with the EpoX 8KHA+ mobo and i just screved the puppy on to the dimples and its been runnin fine for like 4 months prety much nonstop.
