Ever wondered what the inside of a heatsink base looks like?

Click on the pictures, and check the last two pictures. Apparently they cut it in half to show they're using a copper base at the bottom.

It's too bad they couldn't fill in the gaps between the heat pipes for some added conductivity. Even solder would help, especially one with a high silver content.

Anyway, I thought it was interesting. Hopefully you will too!

It's like the inside of a candy bar: copper wafers, caramel and nougat covered in creamy aluminum chocolate.

It looks pretty cool and is low priced. Anyone have reviews on its performance?

Edit: Checked it out, should've known better. :X

* The heatpipes have a wick type material inside, to conduct the fluid.
* Too bad the HS manufacturers feel the need for a shiny nickel plated base.
Copper conducts heat better. Some industrious types will lap down through the nickel layer to the copper base.
