It was pretty cool to use BMW's tracking feature when my dad ordered his 325....you could see approx where it was at all times, from germany to here. Sweet.

That stuff is Cosmoline. It's not wax to make the car shiny rather it's a grease that protects the metal from the salt air on the transport ship.

Cosmoline is a nasty greasy substance that is a REAL pain to remove, would be a pain for dealerships to do it. I used to have to install machinery and all the exposed metal was covered in that crap and I hated trying to remove it.

I believe it can as long as the buyer is made aware of the situation. You have to consider that it will be repaired at a BMW repair shop, so we must assume that these people know what they are doing.
