the 360 degree movie experience intrigues me most. I'd love to try it out somewhere. Samsung was (is?) offering free gear VR headsets with preorders of the S7

Most 360 videos are poor quality on the Gear VR (iirc the mobile CPU can't push that much data through...imagine watching 240p Youtube for a lot of them). There are some decent ones though. In MilkVR, I recommend:

1. The Interrogation
2. Sonar
3. Assassin's Creed 3D trailer

In VRSE, I recommend:

1. Take Flight
2. The Displaced

You can have 360 videos & then also 3D 360 videos. One is just like a panorama in a 360 bubble, the other is where the stuff in that bubble shoots out at you in 3D. Both are good, surprisingly. You can also watch 2D/3D movies on a flatscreen, like in a VR movie theater, which looks good (aside from seeing the pixels). I'm interested to see how a high-quality 360 video would look running off an actual PC with a real GPU to an Oculus or Vive headset...

Has anyone played a 1st person shooter in VR? I have samsung gear vr but I doubt my phone will run that well plus I'd want some kind of controller/gun object.

I would love when this mature enough that I can really work "anywhere". Right now my job kind of requires use of 3+ monitors to be efficient. With this I can just go outside and enjoy the warm sunshine or even work on the plane (and look like a doofus doing it).
