So, I 'inherited' this device from my parents and have yet to use it. Any good recipes from anyone out there? I'm willing to give new recipes a try. Rotisserie chicken diet is killing me.

hmm all I've ever cooked in mine is roast. a cup of water, a roast, package of gravy. 6 hrs😀 nice and easy

My wife just made a big pot of her incredible chili in the Crock Pot last night. Don't have the recipe handy, but here's a rough idea:

1 pound of ground meat
A bunch of beans
Packet of chili flavoring
Two packages of shredded Mexican cheese

MMMMMM MMMMM good. Got a nice big container of it for lunch and a piece of French bread on the side.

HHmmmmmmm Think I'm gonna make chili this weekend😀

beef tips, coated with flour and seared in a pan. Cover with beef broth, add potatoes onions, lentils (washed), a 1/4 cup red wine.... carrots peas and broccoli also are good in there, but tend to dissolve if you cook them all day. add 1 hour prior to eating.

A musician friend of mine would get a raw chicken, chop it up and throw in a can or two of salsa. Made for some good chicken and amazingly easy.

Buy a roast, rub a package of dry onion soup mix over it, salt, pepper and garlic. Brown each side in a heavy skillet with oil, then cook in slow cooker for 6 hours on low heat. Yum. You should be able to pull the meat off with your fingers when cooked thoroughly. Server on a roll.

I like to put either a beef chuck roast or a whole chicken in there with some sliced onions, potatos, carrots, and a bottle of beer. Cook until tender. 🙂

I'm more into cooking than my wife😀

Favorite crock pot recipies are stews & roasts

Simple roast recipie

brown roast in pan
add:
peeled, cubed potatoes (6-8 red the red potatoes seem to cook better in crock pots)
quartered onions
1 packet dried onion soup mix
2 cups of baby carrots

High for a couple hours, then low for 4-6 hours...

(edited link)

I use mine all the time, for stews, roasts, chili, soups, and lots of other things.
It's great because most recipes are simple, and cleanup is easy. Makes your house smell good, too! 😀

Check out a local used bookstore, you can find Crock-Pot-specific cookbooks that should have lots of good recipes. 🙂

Eating the chili for lunch right now. My mouth thinks it died and went to heaven. My wife is a fantastic cook. 😀

Amish, I'd get cornbread but have no idea where to get it or make it. I'll settle for French bread or sourdough with this mofo though. 😉

Think about what "pulled pork" might be a euphemism for. :Q

See my joke dying on the ground here? Let's kick it around some more, eh? 😉

Easies Roast Recipe ever:

1 roast (chuck roast?) of necessary size (3 pounds will do)
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can water (in the cream of mushroom soup can)

Dump all above ingredients into crock pot (or crotch pot as we used to call it) and put on low-med for 4-6 hours depending on size of roast.

Put the two cans of paste in, then the two cans of
sauce, then add one and a half cans of water (the sauce cans).
