Ever thought about (or have you) canceled your internet at home?

I bought a house back in september, and subscribed to cable internet shortly thereafter. I've come to the point now, that I love the internet, and I love the flexibility that it brings, but it hinders me in two ways

1. I tend to waste a lot of time online
2. When I surf the internet, I find myself buying a lot of useless stuff, costing me more money.

I'm 23, and I'm just getting into the working world, and I don't want to waste all my creativity and energy dicking around online...

I plan to keep my laptop, and therefore I'll be able to surf online when I need to at coffee shops, etc. I also have full access at work.

Anybody else done this?

Do you still get all your work done on time even if it requires procrastinating at the end? Just don't let quality of your work drop and you should be fine.

I think at work, I get the job done fine... I kinda want to free up some space in my mind for stuff outside of the internet, business opportunities, etc.

So you are saying that you need to get rid of the internet because you lack the personal discipline to use it wisely? I am keeping mine as I do not suffer from the problems you descrive and it is my portal to instant information, a resource I find invaluable.

Bro, cancelling your internet service isn't going to help your lack of self control.

On the contrary, I feel it could possibly be a waste of my money, and "instant information" is not neccessarily as rosy as you make it out to be.

I'm not your bro, but...

The issue here is saving $50 a month by doing without something that until now has seemed necessary. Not "self control"

I'm considering switching from Cable to DSL to cut my bill in half. It will reduce the speed a hair too. *shrug*

yeah i've done it before

you start to do stupid sht, like going to a friends place and then using their internet

the internet is like shtty crack, addictive as fvck and you don't get anything out of it

I heard a gal on the radio today talking about how we are hooked on TV and the Internet.

She has a rule: when the sun is shining, no TV and no Internet.

I wish I was that strong willed.
