I am thinking about taking time off school after I graduate my course at college. I'll be finished this week, but I still wanted to goto university in the fall. (In Canada, colleges and universities aren't the same... colleges are like community colleges).
Anyhow I wanted to take some time off between there (8 months to be exact) and just code for fun and crap. Had a handful of ideas for projects and so forth some of which could lead to money (I feel). My parents keep hounding me like "so what are you going to do?" and its so annoying :frown:.
It feels like the odds are against me but I'm fairly sure they'd let me take the time off. I worked all the past while of my life and never had much time off to get into a project much. Scraping an hour or two here and there is utterly annoying.
They are kind of fixated on getting a coop or a job right out of college. I truly don't think I'd be happy putting my goals on the backburner like that though... (and furthermore I'd still like a degree)
They seem to think that sitting at a computer in your room must be a complete time wasting activity and that nothing good comes of it cause... you know... I must be playing games.
Figured I want to leave with 2 year diploma, do some of my own stuff and if it turns out I can't make any money from my projects or they don't look reasonable eight months from now at completion (more than enough time... 4 months is good for some) then I'd goto university 8 months from now which is another goal (degree).
