I moved to a new city for a new job and signed a 2 year contract because they provided me a relocation package but now I realize the job wasn't what I expected. Money is decent but it's stressful and I hate it.. Anyone ever been in this position? Would you just give the money back and call it even? I've only been here 4 months.

Yes, several times, but thankfully, not in a situation like yours. I was able to just say, "Fuck this...I'm outta here."
Got any "outs" in the contract that you can take advantage of?

Yeah but not in your situation. I interviewed for a management trainee position and was hired. Went to my first day of work and they screwed up. They had two guys hiring and they hired to many people. They hired me for that position but the store manager thought I was his new contractor sales guy. Problem was #1, I'm not a salesman. #2 I knew dick about the industry and there was no way I could sell crap. They said I could have the job I was hired for when the next spot was open and to just hold tight. I spent two weeks loading trucks before telling them to fuck off. Funny thing was six months later I got a bonus check in the mail.

In this economy I'd keep the job until you find something else. Right now a job you a hate is better than no job. Start looking and when you find something pay the money back. I don't know much they paid to move but it can't be worth working a job you hate for two years. That's a long time to be miserable.

I once had a job I hated so much that I would have dreams that I was angry and arguing with people from work...JUST to wake up from being angry and having to actually go to work. I get angry thinking about it today (12+ years later.)

I also worked for 2 months picking up dead animals - I quit the day they told me I had to go cut a horse to pieces (with a chainsaw) that had died in a park 50 miles from Brooklyn. The funniest part is I had never used a chainsaw ever...jackass co-worker pulled rank on me.

Not a job I hate but I started a new job that I suck at.

Therefore it's stressful and I am paranoid everyday at work. Hoping that it works out positively :(

Yes. I got a job at a supermarket. The hours they wanted really didn't suit me and I had to juggle my work, school, and social life to make it fit. Training took 2 weeks since I didn't actually work that many hours, after that I was employed for 6 weeks. I only worked for 3 weeks' worth though, because I had an ACL tear and then a week later I sprained the other ankle and the physio didn't think I should be working a job that required standing and walking around so long - I actually needed crutches for the ankle. So I got paid for 5 weeks' worth of work, only actually worked 3 hours, and was 'employed' for 8 hours. They weren't very impressed when I said I wanted to quit :p

I moved to Eugene to take a job at Hynix. After a month I realized how stressful it was and how much constant sleep deprivation stinks. At that point I wished I had moved back home with mom and gone to college. Instead I toughed it out for 18 months. They went out of business. Should never have bothered.

If I had gone home immediately after leaving the Navy I'd have my bachelors by now.

Oh, my point was:
Do NOT feel like you have to tough it out. If you got a better offer or something else seems more in line with what you want, dont hesitate to go after it. Shitty situations rarely improve and after a year or two you will hate yourself for putting up with it. Remember, companies dont exist to make you happy, they exist to exploit you for profit.
YOU need to make yourself happy.

Wait, what? Why would you sign a contract?

What kind of contract is it? We need more details. Is it a contract through a head hunter based on an hourly rate? Is it a contract that states since they paid relocation you will be liable to repay it if you leave early?

What do hate about the job?

Work, but in your free time search for a new job and get the hell out of there. 4 months is a pretty long enough time to get a feel if it's any good or not, and it seems like it isn't.

Check the contract your signed. My guess is the relocation money isn't mentioned there. If its not, you can probably quit. However, like other people said here - you should probably find another job first before you quit this one. The job market is recovering, but very slowly. So don't take any risks and plan it first.

Also, It might give you motivation so you will not be so worried about your current job anymore.

I have. As a software developer took up a testing job that paid well and was stress free. Hated it. Left after 3 months

The call center is for diesel engine warranty claims.

I know nothing about it and I'm surrounded by engineers that make twice as much as me and know their stuff.

It's depressing knowing I have a degree (in management/marketing) and can't find anything better than this.

The problem with call centers is not what they support, it is all about the people who run them. They are all, 100%, sadists, power trippers and, policy prophets.

You can find something better, if only by the virtue of there not being any worse type of employment even if you shovel shit.
