Ever since I upgraded to IE7

I upgraded my computer to IE7 a few months ago. I noticed right away that the google search engine was giving me problems. It wouldn't take me the link it found, instead it would bring me to some BS site. If I hit the back buttom in the browser enough times it would eventually load the page it should. Sometimes I would have to click the drop down menu from the back button and select the google search again before it will bring up the site.

I don't feel this is active spyware running because I never get pop ups and when I get to my site all is well. No issues while I am not gaming. Basically, only when I am using google to search and click on the links they find from my search. Even something as simple as "anandtech" will bring me the correct search, but clicking on the link leads redirects me to some IP addy and another site entirely.

This is finally pissing me off, so I updated spybot and ran a scan, nothing... I downloaded all the windows updates, still does it. I ran windows defender and it still does it. Making me very angry... Thinking about removing IE7, because it never happened before this.

If anyone has a clue, I'd be grateful...

Run through the steps in The Consolidated Security Thread's removal guide (in my sig), if you are still having trouble, post your HijackThis log.

Thanks!

I didn't know that Hijackthis was freeware, so I never bothered with it. I downloaded it from the link you provided and was able to find a registry line that looked suspecious. Deleted it and the problem is fixed now! Woot... Thanks again.

what you had is spyware that hijacked your browser. remove the BHO and all be well. get a good spyware killer like spysweeper
