Ever not get hired because you intimidated the people that interviewed you?

Well when people ask me what I've been doing for the past decade as I list no previous work experience, I tell them the truth. I'm a ninja assassin. Now I try to explain to them, but they seem pretty scared and intimidated afterwards. Normally I don't get offered the position 🙁

The officer level, VP level do the interviewing. Just not for your general staff level position.

I've very much turned people down. But only because they were a pissant premadonna and it became very clear during the interview. These are not the kind of people you want to work with. Every office has one of them and normally they are fired of their attitude problems.

happened right out of school in 05, place wouldnt hire me cus they thought id leave shortly after for more 4 heh

Yes. One place where I interviewed had me take an IQ test - the type where you have a series of pictures/shapes and you had to choose a shape from a list of shapes to complete the series. The test was extremely long - it was designed to be impossible to finish. Not only did I nearly finish it, but I also nearly aced it. They immediately told me I wasn't qualified for the particular position that was opened.

No, I got laid off once though because I think my boss was intimidated by me. The fact that I made almost as much as she did probably didn't sit well with her either...

Threatened the people that interviewed you? It is too bad that higher up people do not do the interviewing and it is left to a crew of people that seem to be so easily intimated. This has happened a couple of times lately. Why interview me then if I am more than they are looking for? Do they think they will just get lucky and get someone with more experience than them, but is an absolute dork? Or will take way less than what they are worth?

Should you have to dumb yourself down to get in the door..? Good grief...

Since this "has happened a couple of times" I think there are a few possibilities:

1) Your apparent arrogance is dissuading your interviewers from making positive recommendations to their managers.

2) Your skill set is not as robust as you believe.

3) Your salary requirements or personal hardship requirements are undermining your attractiveness as a new hire.

Judging from the OP's tone, I'm leaning towards #1.
