Ever meet with your chief execs?

Just had a skip level with a chief exec in my company, pretty large corporation. Wound up going over a problem we have with system requirements changing even after we go live (and we wonder why our systems aren't stable...) and he wrote a couple of words on a notepad, sat back and said, "I'll take care of that."

Sure. You're going to effect enormous culture change across the whole company that nobody has been able to conquer in three years. I feel way better now.

As an auditor we make it a point to meet with the CFO/CEO mutliple times during an audit. So I frequently discuss issues with CEO's and CFO's of a lot of Companies.


Face time with execs is almost always a good thing.

No, but he had a meeting at our office with his staff around Christmas or Thanksgiving or something like that. Since they were there when we had our holiday dinner, they joined us. One of my former coworkers was sitting next to him and he asked him "what do you do here?"

Most CEOs and CFOs look down on auditors. They are seen as a nuisance.

I talk with my director on a daily basis, seen the CEO in person, but never met him at my current job. Previous job, I personally knew the CEO and met the CEO a few times.

Stop auditing public companies with SOX requirements and you will see a much different tone. The start-ups I focus on want to be audited, well that, and the VC's make em.

I am am one of those people. =) I work for my fathers company. It is a large multi-million $ Co. I take care of the accounting situation. It is funny to see how the smaller people of the company react to us. Christmas parties crack me up. You almost feel like you have some type of disease at times..some will smother you with attention, others freak out talking to you. Anyway, we are just normal people. Treat us like it and you will get much father then the ones who treat us like a "big boss".
