yep, i normally don't lend money to people and expect to get it back. that said, i will only lend it to my best friends because i know they will only ask if they are truly in a set-back. if they pay me back, then they do. no problem if they dont because i know that they will do the same for me should i be in that situation.

example of this, back in my freshman year in college, i was in a payment plan for my tuition. the payment was coming up soon, and i was short on cash. i had asked a friend to borrow the money, and the next day he did lend it to me. later, i found out that he had sold his pool stick (stick was his baby) to get the money to lend to me. i did pay him back, but he never got his pool stick back and took up bowling instead. :)

He went out of his way to lend money to you. I'd never do that.

doesnt make you a bad person if you dont. i just learn to take care of my true friends and i know that they will have my back in return.

It seems like if he sold something of his own to lend you money, you could have just sold something of yours to raise the money yourself

not sure if your post was meant to be an attack on me or soemthing, but the thing is, i never intended for him to sell his pool stick for the money to lend me. hell i didnt even know until his girlfriend told me. he could have easily said he didnt have the money and that would have been alright with me. i guess he just knows that i wouldnt ask unless i really needed the money. trust me, if i knew that he sold his pool stick to get me the money, i wouldn't let him do it, and i would have sold off my stuff before i would have let him sold his. it's just a matter of me accepting the money he lent and not knowing what he did to get it. sorry, if that makes me a bad person.

if it's money you LEND to someone, let them know when you expect it back. If they don't get it back to you on time, then lose em.

If I lend a friend $20, and I never see them again, I consider it money well spent..............

not much of a friend to begin with I assume?

Just some advice the grandmother gave me years ago.

What I took from it was that if you lend someone money who you think is a friend, and they do not repay you, you just learned a valuable lesson about that persons character.

i really do not worry about getting the money i lend out.

on the other hand...

i have one friend who actually keeps track of every cent let out on a dry erase board. LOL... he also keeps track of cds, books, paperclips... basically if you get something from him your name goes on the board of debt.

Yeah, I lent a guy a know a few states away $30 so he wouldn't have to wait for a paypal transfer. I was selling him a computer already, so it's just another $30 on the check.
