When I was much younger and dumber I convinced a friend to cook and eat an Amanita muscari mushroom. The North American form isn't usually all that dangerous, but it causes some unpleasant symptoms for a while. In Russia and Europe they are much more deadly and some varieties are hallucinogenic. I didn't know anything about all that at the time though, I was just young and naive and thought it looked good to eat. Now I know a lot more, mostly because of this experience.

I never ate any of it, I wasn't around when the cooking and eating took place, but if I was I would have eaten some too. I can't believe I was that reckless 🙁

I don't understand, so your friend died from eating the mushroom?

I almost killed someone by cycling a press on him 20 years ago. This will be the frst time I've ever told anyone.

The machine-repairman should have locked out the press, but I except full responsibility.

The machine didn't cycle because the transfer beams were in the wrong position and I had meant to push another button.

It haunts me to this day.

And your name is squisher. Hmm. 😕

I was about two seconds away from shooting a MO individual who was advancing towards me and refusing to drop the knife he was carrying or any other commands for that matter, but a Park Police officer set his K9 on him and that was the end of that.

Well, that plain sucks.
Almost is better than did though.

The haunting works in a good way though. I now assume that everyone around me are lunatics/idiots bent on their self-destruction.

In other words, it'll never happen again.

That's generally the best attitude to take with anything poptentially dangerous.

I've nearly killed myself many, many times... too many to count thats for sure. Thats what owning atv's since I was 8 did for me😀

This last weekend while doing my reserve duties we were training with explosives (urban breaching w/det cord and other SWAT techniques)

We were doing a practice run and I misunderstood the trainer. I armed the explosives during the trial run, and after the fact when I went to go disarm everything the trainer went ape-sh!t. Fortunately he didn't say anything until I had everything disarmed, but apparently I should have blown myself up. :Q

I tried to use my chemistry set to make chlorine gas and kill my little brother because he was pissing me off, but I didn't get the reaction right.

Dude... this thread was if you ever "accidentally" almost killed someone... not attempted murder :Q

One time I had a cookout and my friend almost choked to death on a hotdog that I made. Does that count?

Oh god... the obvious joke about choking on weiners is too great to resist...

<steps away from thread rapidly>

My Dad has killed a few people while at work. He's a train conductor and has hit people with the train. Of course they were stupid enough to stay in their vehicles when they get stuck on the tracks...

He didn't die, he just had some very severe food poisoning for a couple days.

Since everyone is basically saying they almost have. Well, back in highschool, I was on the track team and I threw the javelin. Well, I gave it a toss, coach wasn't paying attention, or I wasn't supposed to be throwing, anyways it was heading right at him. Teammate was standing next to the coach and luckily knocked it out of the air. Had he not done that it would have been a direct hit. That ended that day of practice allittle early for me.

Was it a floppy javelin (like Revenge of the Nerds)? 😉

I fell asleep driving before...for a second or two...I was about a foot away from rear-ending a semi

Why do you want to know? I don't like talking about it. I have put that part of my life behind me and regret all that I have done when I was young and confused. I pray daily that the families that were affected by my actions find it in their hearts to forgive me for I knew not what I was doing. 🙁
