Ever just want to give up?

Where do you get your willpower to try to stay in shape from? To workout, even if you don't want to. Do you do it for someone else, or for yourself?
What drives you, if anything?

i'm driven by the fact that i dont want to look fat like my buddies, its also healthy to be in shape, also motivated to stay in shape to get a better job which requires that you be in shape otherwise you will not get the job.

Being Single and trying to look good for the ladies also.

Used to be sports, but after I stopped playing, I lost all motivation. I guess my motivation now is to get rid of the beer gut. That, and I have nothing else to do.

what are you talking about?

if i don't walk to my car and then after i park it at work, get out of the car and walk to the office, i won't be able to work and then i would be fired and i would not get any money anymore

do could anyone "give up" ? 😕

I just keep at it for myself. It makes a nice fantasy to imagine doing it for someone else (too), but since nobody cares, it's pretty hard to have that be anything beyond a fantasy. (Truth is, most people I know think it's kinda weird at best.)

I know what you mean. If I don't get some running in almost everyday, I get very aggitated.

not being obese like 90% or whatever of americans are is what motivates me. also, progress is a huge motivation, and when i get compliments it also feels good. i have been asked by about 10 people in the past 2 years if I ever considered modeling, that was kinda a nice compliment as well.

right now i am trying to bulk up, and it is showing. this past weekend i had 3 people, all of whom i hadn't seen in over 3 weeks, say that i looked significantly bigger than the last time they saw me. i had probably gained about 4 lbs since i saw them last.

Well, besides the obvious fact of working out to be slim down and muscle up, you get a great energy burst from it the entire day. I am much more productive at work and around the house when I get a good workout in. The earlier, the better.

Sometimes I wanna give up, I wanna give in, I wanna quit the fight. And then I see you, baby, and everything's alright, everything's alright

I love you,

My motivation was the progress on the weight scale. The first few weeks are the worst though.

Even now, after dieting for a year and a half, I have to remind myself to stop eating and wait until I feel full, instead of eating up to that point.

Man, I have been excersing at least 3 nights a week since May and I wanna give up all the time. But oh well.

Excersising sucks though, I would rather be playing guitar or video games.

I never have wanted to miss a workout. I LIKE lifting.

Cardio is another story, but I've never skipped a cardio session unless I planned to (like when I'm bulking).

Working out definetly makes me feel better, at least after I got over the initial hump. It was tough because I spent all four years of my college life drinking, smoking, and playing video games. Not active at all. What I avoid though is trying to get super huge. The body builder type where you can't touch your fingers together in front of you is stupid. But yeah, motivation is a b*tch.
