Just curious 🙂

Seeing as I almost ripped off all the skin from my right arm today pulling it out from the guts of my system. Installing RAM can be such a pain in the @ss 😀
 
Well, each time I put a system together. I'll expect lots of small cuts on my finger and yet I don't know where they come from . 🙁
 
Yeah, and I don't always realize it right away either cause i'm so excited about whatever i'm doing. Later on i'll be like, "where did these cuts come from?"🙂
 
I installed a 64MB DIMM Monday night and got a cut on my middle finger. It took me two hours to install the DIMM because I could never get it seated properly in the slot. I had to remove my AGP video card and the ATX power connector each time I wanted to test/retest because they get in the way of the clips that hold the DIMM in. Man! However, unless I'm analyzing a really big dataset 320MB vs. 256MB doesn't make much of a difference.
 
i was wearing my pj's working on my computer year and a half ago... my room was crowded with computer junk and i had no where to walk...i started walking backwards to avoid the mess and the computer case cut though my pj's and to my @$$!!!! *sigh* so embrassing 😱 and it really hurt too
 
I've got a few "battlescars" on my knuckles/hands/arms/face 😉

Of course, that was all before I got an Antec case with rounded edges.
 
I got so mad once trying to get a nonbooting system to work that I punched myself in the face.

Just kidding. But I really was that mad.
 
Really cheap cases often have very sharp edges.

Especially those cases where you have to pop the back-plate covers off. They end up with sharp and ROUGH edges.

I've cut my finger to the bone on those more than once trying to remove stubborn cards. Damn people and their cheap cases.

takin those damn spacers out in the back...the ones where they are attached and you have to wiggle them until they fall off. Cut myself there numerous times.
 
Yes, the two systems I have built resulted in around 6 small cuts, some were paper cuts (except from metal), and others bled a real lot.

The people that make all of these components, obviosly do not believe in convenience for the builder 😀

You must think each edge in the case is a razor, you touch them less that way 🙂
 
Come on?. Computer geeks must get tough. It sounds like your complaining about something along the lines of a paper cut. I don?t hear anyone bragging about those.

I can see it now, an ER episode base on someone with a computer case cut. Quick we need more units of blood.
 
I've installed numerous ISA/PCI/AGP cards, build a few systems, upgraded memory in a few dozen PC's and not even a serious scratch 😀

I guess I'm just careful...

I'd get a few minor scraps and cuts now and then, but nothing serious. 😀 Lucky me <knocks on wood>

Then again, I've always bought and recommended to people good solid cases. Sorry, but no cheap generic crap for me. 😉



Oh, this reminds me, the last time I remember getting a cut was a few weeks back when I was taking out the motherboard spacers and putting them in on an upgrade I did to my SuperMicro 750A case. Those spacers are sure stubborn, and I nicked my fingers a few times working with them. 🙁
 
I've cut myself several times working with cheaper PC cases. It seems most new cases these days are better at having rounded or folded edges. But yuo still come across the occasional razor edges. My solution has been to apply a strip or two of duct tape on suspect edges as soon as the cover comes off the case. That seems to do a good job of making edges safe. Usually you don't even need to take it off to get the case cover back on. But if you do its easy. I end up working on everyone's computer since they all seem to think I can do a better job than they but that's OK because I enjoy it. Especially now that I'm not making a blood sacrifice each time I do it. 🙂

 
I have fileted my fingers a few times on crapy cases... that's why I always get good, name brand cases for myself... cheap cases are not worth the blood.
