My brother lives in Cincinnati and is looking into purchasing a new system. He's found one he's interested in, and it's put together by a company called Matrix. Has anyone ever heard of this company, and if so, do you know how these machines rate (price, performance, stability) and how the company rates (good tech support, reliable, etc.)? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Why doesn't he find one in Cincinnati, or is it there? I don't think he's going to want to have to do the maintainence himself. Never heard of the company at all. That's not saying it's bad. I would just find out what kind of hardware they use, and post it here. Then we can tell you if the part have a good reputation.

Personally I've checked and didn't find anything exceptMatrix Computers

Then again I am not too familiar with the area..

Regardless, you might want to go with a name brand or atl east something popular if he isn't interested in a home-built pc.

Oxford Pc is certainly great, but then again Dell is great too. Basically if he doesn't know much about compuiters, give him something that comes with great support.

Hope I helped

As far as the specs go, he didn't write them down, and he doesn't have an eye for details. He mentioned something about a Pentium 4 and 512MB RAM, but that's it.

He's not interested in going with the prefab machines from the big named companies (Dell, Gateway, HP, Compaq, etc.) because of how hard they are to upgrade, and now he's burned out on them. Two computers ago he had an Acer that gave hime lots of problems, and there was really nothing he could do about it because of how Acer-specific it was. His last computer was a built machine that a friend/acquaintance put together for him. It was an overclocked Celeron 333 (I think I had it running 400+), and he never had a problem with it. Since I don't live anywhere nearby (and I guess that acquaintace of his is no longer around), he's trying to find a machine that's already assembled.

Thanks for the info. I, too, couldn't find any information on the company on the web.

I believe that Matrix is BestBuy's new house brand or private label line
of PC's.

I have seen the Matrix in their ad and online

I haven't been to a store recently to see them first hand

On paper they look pretty dang good for the price.

If they are a good computer/company I would say that would be a great way to spend some money if you don't want to build it yourself

Their pretty kick ass....i work there and i've seen the techs messin with them and they love'em.
They got some pretty good parts in them...i've heard they got a intel motherboard not sure which though.
512mb of ddr i believe.....but they only come with a geforce2mx card though.
All that and they couldn't even get a geforce3 in them. Oh well
But if i was going to get a pre-built comp this would be the one.
For the price and the performance.
