Well yesterday I went to school (High school) at 12:30 for a 12:30 exam, I was like 2 minutes late, so everyone that had to take a science exam was in class already, I parked where I always do, got out took my exam, after the exam I talked with my friends for 10-15 minutes, then got in my car and drove home, when I got home, I got out an noticed a huge (like 2 feet long) keymark down my passenger side door, and it was deep, not something I can buff out. Anyways, I have been checking around to see who would want to mess with me, at my school, my group makes fun of a lot of people, but I thought everyone knew it was in good fun, they always kid back, earlier this year, someone took a baseball bat to my front bumper and caused $550 worth of damage, my parents just paid it since it wouldn't be worth it to them to notify insurace. Well now this happens, it is obviously someone who is too afraid to say something to my face, and smart enough to try something when I'm not around (so they don't catch theirs). I have been told by several body shops around town that they CAN NOT match my paint, meaning I would have to get the whole thing redone, at least 2 grand. I'm trying to find out who it is, I am friends with most of the popular kids in each grade, so I am having them check around, but my main thought is, when I catch this guy, can I file charges for vandalism? I mean 2 thousand bucks worth of damage is quite a bit, I have already spoken with the administration at my school who has said that when this individual is caught they will be expelled without chance to withdraw (if you get kicked out of a private school, you have to go to second chance school where all the thugs who bring knives and drugs to public school go). Anyways any of you ever had this crap happen to you? What did you do about it?

If you were the one who parked in my assigned spot at the apartment instead of the visitor spots, then I was the one who keyed your car.

I -did- have that happen to me, but not at school or anything. My last car got keyed about 2 weeks after I got it, and while I have my suspicions about who did it, I have no way of getting proof. I never got it fixed, and eventually traded the car in... (got an insurance check for the damage, though, which paid the down payment on the new car)

Good luck....

So you are saying instead of asking this person or reporting them, you would break the law, and vandalize their car? Would it be ok for me to kick in the window to your appartment and steal 2 grand worth of stuff? To make it fair of course. Oh, BTW this is my spot, it has my name on it since I am the President of the Debate Club.

I think everyone has probably had their car keyed at some point. There's a lot of @ssholes in the world.

Yeah, but for me, if I have a problem with someone I tell them to their face, they won't find out that I talk about them behind their backs from their friends, beacause I don't, they will hear it first from me. I don't have to break their stuff to feel cool.

Nope. A friend of a friend keyed a dick into the back of a PT Cruiser, however.

my dad's white grand caravan got keyed by one of the mexican neighbor kids. The deep scratch extended from the middle of the driver side door to more than halfway down the length of the car. It measures about 3-4 feet total. That was over 2 years ago, and the scratch is still as good as new.

i keyed a car in a fit of rage. The person had parked their intrigue so that its bumper was actually compressing mine. They freaking hit my car and left it. I cannot believe the gaul of someone to hit a car and then just leave both cars parked. That pissed me off alot, and it is scratch my bumper.

i just took my car into the body shop on monday to get it repainted after i had my hood and side keyed about 3 weeks ago. (same time i had my tires slashed)

i get it back today, I cant wait... going these past 2 days without a car has sucked.

for a scratch on the hood and right door, it cost 600 dollars to get it repainted. Thank god insurance covers it.

Does it raise your rates at all if insurance has to pick it up? My parents said they will pick up insurance untill I am out of college, but still I wouldn't want them to have to pay more just because of some punk who was too scared to face me.

hmm, that sounds pretty odd to me. i have bene in several accidents now and the body shops have been able to match my paint without a problem (or at least make it not noticably different by blending). my car is 7 years old now so it has been faded some by the sun. do you have some kind of custom paint?

my ex-girlfriends car got keyed in front of my house once. I think it was from another ex-girlfriend but can't prove anything. we ended up just paying to repaint the door. sux :(

no. I'm a college student as well and it won't effect my rates at all... In fact-- becuase its considered comprehensive damage, i dont even have to pay a detuctible on it. (state farm insurance)

I think people who key cars should have their face keyed. Perhaps a giant K on the forehead :)

If I ever pony up for an expensive car I'm making sure to put small hidden cameras in it.

People who key cars are either A)Women (sorry ladies, but I would bet a million dollars on the fact that more women key cars than men) or B)Spineless pieces or crap guys. NEVER, ever, ever screw with a man's car. Come up and confront me, yes. But don't even be a big enough pussy to just screw with my car.
