Ever had a website that just wouldn't load?

This is bizarre. This started last week and we thought it was a problem with Wamu. Basically, when we login to our account, the connection times out. We went to my parent's house for Christmas and were able to get on it there though. Get back home, same thing as before. Online.wamu.com doesn't come up when we try to login.

I had this happen with a picture hosting site as well. My router settings didn't change so what could possibly be another cause of the problem?

I've seen https websites refuse to work on quite a few PCs... usually clearing out the cookies & temp files helps - or use firefox instead of IE.
Could also be a DNS issue.

Flushed the DNS cache, cleared all cookies and temp files. Tried IE and Firefox.

No joy. This is happening across three computers in the house.

Ping -a the address and see if it resolves to some IP that you may be using inside your router/firewall. Shouldn't (192.168.x.x and 10.10.x.x and all)

Pinging online.wamu.com [167.88.184.52] with 32 bytes of data:

Request timed out.

Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 167.88.184.52:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

Not using that ip inside my router/firewall at all.

Hmm, never had that problem with wamu.

Now, my site hosted by my university, that's another story. Apparently I am forbidden 403 from accessing my own documents. :(

I get intermittent access to it with Rogers. Not sure why that is.

Are you running Windows Vista? Did you set your browsers to use the single sign on feature? If so, that may be your problem.

I've had a couple of sites stop working once I set it for single sign on. Now I don't use that feature at all and the problems went away.

probably an ISP problem, one of the downstream carriers may have blacklisted that IP range or is otherwise not providing a route to that host.
