The people in the Davis barbershop do that, but I say no since I always take a shower and shave my face myself after the haircut. That, and I'm cheap and it saves a couple bucks. :)

The barber shop where I used to live did it and still does as far as I know. It's been three years since I was last there, though. One of the two on-campus haircut places (one is a barber shop, the other is more of a salon) at Clemson uses straight razors for the neck and around the ears. I kind of like having it done with a straight razor.

The first time my brother was shaved with a straight razor, he didn't know what was going on and thought the hot water running down his neck was blood from the barber cutting him. Funny stuff.

I went to a barber for awhile who would shave my sideburns with a straight razor when I got my hair cut.

That all ended the time he gave me a haircut that looked like a mohawk. Now I found an awesome barber, and I hope to keep him for the rest of my life.

Be sure to tape that Red Gold documentary on PBS. They were talking about blood. Barber shop used to be a place where you'd get a shave and a healthy, regular blood letting. That's how they got the red stripe on the pole. Grip the dowell to increase localized pressure and the red stipe is the nice little stream of blood that trickles down. See if your barber will do that for you.

I watched the first two parts of Red Gold last night, very interesting. I can't believe that things have come so far so fast. Amazing really!

I used to get a full shave once every two or three weeks for half a year,

and I mean by this only face and head, used to cost around 20-30 Indian Rupees so maybe 50cents!

It was worth every cent, apart from having a baseball cap stuck to your head from the Velco type reaction.
the best shave, right next to your skin, you do not feel any stuble, and last much longer than a normal electric or razor shave.

Do they still offer this in some places?
Any of you guys had one?

Only the back of my neck. Freshly churned shaving froth, and a real straight razor. Very nice.

We got a lot of those in the navy, they cleaned up your sideburns and the back of your head with straight razors.

High and tight baby. (my hair is still very short 15 years later)
