yeah, i've failed many classes, most of the time in sacrifice so I can devote the time to pass other classes. Berkeley engineering is a bitch, and the only way around it is to take the class again when there is an easier professor.

closest I came was a D in a gen-ed... I think the prof gave me a pity grade, since D's were the minimum requires to not have to re-take a class.

just take the class again and try harder.

Yeah, I did fucking horrible my first go around in college, had a 1.4 GPA after a year.

Anyways, I'm finishing my AS at community college now 5 years later with a 3.7 GPA and will transfer back in to NIU with a clean slate.

Wow, my situation is very similar to yours. 1.7 GPA instead of 1.4 though.

Wow, lots of failing grades here. You gotta know early on when you can't hack it so you can still drop the class. Even so, though, college classes are usually graded fairly easy. You'd have to be in the bottom 10% to fail typically.

I flunked Engineering Mathematics in my second term. Took too many courses that term and ended up having to choose which ones to really study for the final exams as there was just not enough time to do them all justice. Retook it the next year and got an A.

Failed too many classes @ UIUC, dropped out, came back home to get my Associates at Community College with a 4.0, transferred to VT (clean slate), 4.0 so far here.

Life moves on, learn your lessons and move on with it. If you're looking for advice because you failed a class, just retake it and ask what the policy is. Most schools will replace the old grade as far as GPA calculations are concerned (but it still remains on transcript).

Nope, not so far. Third year in at UC Davis. The closest I got to it was probably in my organic chemistry class when I got my first midterm score back and it was something like 34%. The average was something like 37%, but the class wasn't curved on the average performance of the current class, but of the previous class (don't ask me why). I ended up destroying the next midterm and the final and got a B in the class. I worked my butt off though for sure.

QFT. Although not sure about annually.
Anyhow, closest I came was a 2.1, and I should've withdrawn after the first week because I knew that the time, the class, and the professor was not right for me. It was for Calculus 3. I retook it last summer, and I got a 3.3 after acing my final (luckily , the professor didn't curve).

Ya, I failed 2 last year. I haven't recovered from it and am trying to find a way to start over. I've decided on a different career path. I'm going to stay in school, but hopefully start over.

Failed 2 comp sci courses (data structures, calc II math/sci) sophomore year, same semester, was put on probation. Switched my major to IT and finished with a 3.5 GPA in it, 2.8 overall.

Had to take two courses this past summer to complete my credits, but all in all no real biggie. I was able to get a good internship and am looking for a job now. Guess I'll find out how my crappy GPA is gonna effect me.

I think if I started with IT from the beginning I could have gotten my degree in literally.. two years and probably have gotten a grad degree since then. Oh well live and learn.

I had an English comp class that I voluntarily failed. It was too late in the year to withdraw, so I just quit going to class so I could focus on classes in my major. The professor apparently thought his was the only class I was taking - his homework assignments were ridiculous and unreasonable. I retook the class the next semester with a different professor, and it was a breeze.
