Ever find yourself hooked on older games?

I don't have a next-gen console, so i have my Xbox and that's it. The other night i put in Rallisport Challenge 2 cause i felt like racin' a bit. I'm on my second refurb xbox so no files previously saved.

Well, i can't put the damn controller down now. I'm hooked on it again. 😛

Every once in a while i get hooked on an older game and just play it to death again.

What older game do YOU get hooked on once in a while.

Mario 3 Battlemode
TMNT 2 & 4
NBA Jam
Army Men: Air Attack

*edit*
forgot about PC games

starcraft and cs are always good to revisit.

Master of Magic (PC)
Magic:TG (PC original, not MTGO)
Civ 2 (PC)
FF7 (and other FFs to a lesser extent)
FF Tactics
Tony Hawk on dreamcast (not sure why...hum)

Sports games in general seem to go streaky for me, picking up an old hockey game and playing it heavily for a month or two, etc. I seem to do it more with strategy PC games than anything else, likely because the strategy part doesn't really age.

I have a xbox I mostly use for multimedia purposes in my bedroom, but occasionally fire up a game, and have been sucked into SSX 3 and NFS:Hot Pursuit like that.

There's no SSX game for the 360 is there? I've been missing Tricky and On Tour since I switched over.

A few games will do it to me every time:

Harvest Moon (SNES version)
Counter-Strike
Tetris

And moreso - but not as old - Advance Wars: Dual Strike

I've replayed some PC games like Baldurs Gate and Icewind Dale,

Plus replayed Zelda Wind Waker over - its truly a great game!

SSX3 is the only one I see on the 360 compatibility list.

not usually.

Really? That interests me. Is it because you need something new all the time? Don't like nostalgia? The type of games you play don't really have much replayability? (is that a word?)

Just curious. 🙂

Some good games named in this thread...Another one of mine is ESPN NFL 2k5. I'll play a couple seasons before i get bored with it again.

Through my college years I used to go back and play older games quite a bit. Now that I have enough discretionary income to feed the habit, I find myself constantly moving from new game to new game. Particularly in these last 4 crazy months.

that makes sense. I've been short on cash for a few months...so that might explain a bit of the reason i go back and play a lot of old games. lol

I replayed Ratchet And Clank (the first one) on PS2 and after finishing it, I had to go get the second one. We'll see what happens from here. They are such fun, not too serious games! I really liked Jak & Daxter, but never got any of the sequels.

I neglected a PC game, Ghost Recon:Advanced Warfighter, it is a much more fulfilling experience than the 360 version. Playing it with a faster vid card than the first go around of course.

jak and daxter is up there was one of my favorite games of all times.

jak2 on the otherhand is up there was one of the biggest disappointments to me. it just does not feel like a jak and daxter game. its basically a gta game in this new dark and dreary jak and daxter world.

Replaying Baldurs Gate right now.

While the graphics may be dated, the 2D back grounds are still nice and BG is long on story, something rarely seen anymore. Hmm... I've really only played through BG1 once, but BG2 twice. Maybe its time to go back and play BG1 again, especially because the MMORPG I was playing for so long has finally ground to a halt with no updates for more more than 6 months.
