sometimes i'll start with one ... doesn't take too long for my wife to give me the evil eye. i guess i embarrass her. i figure it would be more embarrassing for me to switch back to my normal mid-west american midstream.

I order my food with various accents and then use no accent at the window when I pull up. It cracks my son up and confuses the hell out of the people working there.

No lie, I ordered in a "laying it on thick" British accent at Zaxby's once. When I drove around there were 4 people standing at the window looking at me. The girl calls over her boss, then looks at me and says "Say something.". I reply with "Where's my food?" in a normal voice. The look of confusion was priceless and I heard one of the other people standing there mutter "The guy before him musta been the English dude.". My son started laughing his ass off.

My wife complains that I get an accent whenever we go overseas. I don't notice it, nor do it on purpose. Just happens.

It slips in now and then. particularly with a bit of booze in my belly. I'm from the south, but never had the typical accent. Family and friends do, however, so it's easy for me to let out a little drawl.

I will say that whenever I go for an Irish or Scottish accent, it invariably morphs into Australian after a few statements.

I used to do this a lot, when I was in high school I had several accents I'd worked on for years. The problem arose after I went to work, as when I would meet someone who actually had one of the ones I'd practiced, I REALLY had a tough time not to answer with the same accent. I don't do it anymore, but one thing I've noticed is that I can understand people who speak with an accent better than most people around here.
