Tried to start conversations on elevators.

I was about 5% successful with I think around 1500 tries.

I participated in a few.

Two involved pain. One was with a heat lamp and white noise. The other was with an ice bath and neutral and pornographic images.

The white noise one was funny, because I fell asleep during it, the noise spiked, and I just about jumped out of my chair. What happened eventually was that I reacted to noise spikes by flinching away the finger that was near the heat lamp.

The ice bath one didn't work, because my tolerance was too high.

I did a few for extra credit. One was playing pinball, one was about learning a new way to do math, and another was one where they hooked sensors up to various parts of my face and then showed me tons and tons of images, trying to guage my reaction on the violent/gross/gory ones.

Stared at a computer screen as words or non-words flashed quickly by. I was supposed to press the space bar when I thought I recognized a "real" word.

a group in my class went to a hallway in a dorm that had a winding "path" set in the carpet. The hall was a normal hall it just had a red trail of carpet that would sway back and forth. The group watched people and recorded whether or not they walked in a straight path or followed the carpet. Most people followed the carpet.

I can't remember who it was, but someone posted here a while ago about doing an study where she went to a supermarket, and while shopping with a cart took an item out of another shopper's cart and put it in her own. The purpose was to study the reactions of the people who had the item taken out of their cart.
