Snitch.

fuck that shit man. i pay 20 bucks for my wife and I to have a good time "watching" a movie, not hearing some jerk in the background talk on his/her cell phone or make stupid noises.

The nastiest I have ever gotten was stare at someone behind me talking. Haven't worked up the courage to actually say something to them because I would probably scream.

I worked in a movie theater for 1.5 years during HS, and there's a few things I can tell you.
1) In regards to the projection comment... there are 10+ other movies playing, and it's not just a matter of hitting play, there's a lot of work that has to go into those reels, and the projectionist is usually fairly preoccupied. If the problem isn't constant, it's very likely it will be overlooked, and even if it is, it will likely be only at the very start of the movie and around 1/2 -3/4 of the way through the movie that someone will come in to check on quality for maybe 3 minutes or so. It's pretty easy to fix problems though, if someone knows about them.

2) There's usually a manager who likes kicking people out of theaters. We got so many assholes through there that there was always someone willing to get a little bit of revenge.

3) The job sucks, they hate being there and they hate you. You come in, yell and scream through a movie while throwing your popcorn all over the place, dump drinks on the floor and shit on the bathroom walls. We have to clean it up. Fuck you.

Oh, man. I have a story. I was seeing a popular movie with my girlfriend a couple of weeks after it opened. There was plenty of free space. About 15 minutes into the movie a group of ~5 black high school males come and sit directly in front of us. They were horribly obnoxious - switching seats, very loud, talking on phones, texting, throwing stuff, everything - you name it. I was furious, and my girlfriend was trying to calm me down. Well the one kid decided to pull a prank on the other and dump his huge soda and popcorn on the guy's head. Well, that guy just happened to be right in front of us. Me and my girlfriend got drenched with soda and popcorn. I stood straight up and got right in their face - told them to move seats and shut up or to leave the theatre. Some other patrons left to get management. The "ring leader" of the kids starts yelling about how he hates white people (I am white) and THEN says he's "going to come at me sideways". He jumps over the row of seats to get in my row and is coming aggressively at me. I put my left arm out and grabbed him at the neck, my right arm grabbing his wrist - sat him down on the floor (he was a smallish person). Just then cops came in with management. Yada, yada, yada - fifty people backed up my story and some kids got to ride in a squad car. We all got free movie passes. I was so worked up I had to go home and drink, hah!

No. I've made snide remarks before. I don't like the thought of missing part of my movie to complain to an usher that is supposed to already be monitoring this. Service at movie theaters is pretty crappy these days. They don't even seem to watch the movie while projecting it, as evidenced by the major problems with projection or sound that seem to go on for the entire movie. I HAVE complained about that, on occasion.

not like there is only one screen.i used to work in a theater with 6 screens, and on some of the larger openings we would spool the film on 2 projectors at a 15 min delay. same film, two projectors. i would help the projectionist with that stuff, since it was a bit more intricate than single house showings. their job is far from "put movie on projector, watch movie" they do all kinds of things, and the movie times are separated on purpose so when one is ending, another isnt starting at the same time. sure, there is down time, but fofr the most part once a movie is spooled, the dude may only walk by once or twice to make sure the movie is clear and rolling as usual.

i asked a lady to stop her kid from kicking my seat at a movie one time. asked her nicely twice. when she did nothing and the kid started doing it again, i stood, turned and looked at the kid and said "kick that chair one more time. please." the usher saw me stand up, heard what i said and came over to deal with it. the mom was a douche, she escalated it until the usher found out i had asked her twice to stop her kid. he then told her to leave or move seats.

haha.

The wife and I (well she was my GF at the time) had an istance with some white 14/15yr. old punks right behind us doing roughly the same crap. They were literally directly behind us, putting their feat on our head rest, cussing loudly every other word in that squeaky voice only pubescent guys have and other annoying crap.
I'm tall and sit high in the seat. I leaned back a little only to have a pair of Vans in the back of my head.
His reply was to "watch out". I politely asked him to remove his feat and he did. About 10 minutes later they were back and I asked him again to move his feat.
He got huffy and told me to chill out, then started making gestures at my wife. Well she obvisouly was pissed and went off to get management.
In the mean time they started heckling her saying she was on the rag as she walked down the stairs (I would have gone but I didn't trust them with her sitting by herself).

One kid reached down towards her purse and said "Maybe her tampons are in here!". She always keeps her purse in the seat with her to avoid setting it on the muck that usually coats the floors.
Before he could get the purse I grabbed his wrist and twisted a little and told him quite gruffly to keep his hands off. He yelped a little and his buddies all got jumpy and the fun started.
The one that had his feat on my head, and seemed the ringleader, started jumping back and forth saying "I'm gonna f*ck you up!"
By this time, a couple of more peolpe left to get management. Others were telling them to sit and be quiet. One old fella was telling them to just calm down and enjoy the picture. Of course they called him names and what-not.
The kid in the Vans started moving towards me and I just literally bitch smacked him. No backhand or anything just a quick open palm hit to his pustulated face. It wasn't a quick crack. Instead I just drove into his face and sent him across 2 seats, while his friends replied in chorus, "DUDE!!"
The others weren't so jumpy anymore. The kid I hit got up crying and screaming something until a couple of folks came up and got between me and him. I don't really think he was going to do anything, but I guess it was a "just in case" thing.
The manager and a on duty cop came in and we all went to the lobby. A couple of the people that helped break up the "scuffle" were out there as well and told the cop what happened.
I told her verbatim what happened. The kid just said I just "went mental on him" for no reason. The cop didn't pay attention to him much and just asked if he wanted something for his face. It was a nice red color and his ear was split where he hit the seats. He rambled on how I assaulted him. The cop just turned to me and said I could go.
The manager stopped us and the other people who helped and handed us free passes before we left and thanked us.

That was the first and last time I saw that kid, and hopefully the last time that has to happen.

Well:

When a group of idiots all start making moves and one of them says ""I'm gonna f*ck you up!" right before he moves towards you, I'm not gonna rely on the hopes that he will back off.
I sent a clear and verrry fast message that I wasn't gonna screw around with him. You know what? It worked.
Did I want to hit him?
No.
Would I have if he didn't come towards me?
No.
Was I gonna risk getting all of them jumping on me?
Hell no.

Now, I could have stood there until the cows came home and everyting would have been hunky-dory.
But it was his actions that drove me to do what I did.

Kudos. I don't normally condone hitting an underage person, but any threatening manner requires swift and decisive action. I hope the kid learned his lesson and is a bit more humble now.

Who would take care of their babies?

If you have a baby you have to live with the consequences of having it and losing freedom to do certain things if you can't control your child. That or pay someone to take care of it.

Ha, I meant if the parents were shot.

When is it not black people being loud at the movies?
From what I've seen, AND ONLY MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:

-Blacks are more likely to make noise with each other and laugh at the screen.
-Whites are more likely to have loud cell ringers and carry on long, loud conversations. But once the call is done they usually shut up. I have been in a movie where two people each had a one hour conversation and ruined the whole experience.
-Asians of all sorts are often quiet and polite.
-Mexicans are similar to blacks but speak even worse English. And their decibel level is usually a bit lower. Also, they are more likely to complain about lack of subtitles and such.

I dont fit into any category because theres not enough quiet white males to make any kind of demographic. I am the exception to the rule.

As for mess and leaving junk behind, everyone is pretty much equal. Blacks are more likely to bring in food & drink from outside.

Never complained, though came close a couple of times.

My experience:
In MN, opening midnight showing (when I went to 90% of my movies):
-Anyone under 18 was generally a shithead in some way, male or female, black, white, or hispanic, never noticed any issues with asians.
-Kids under 10 were the absolute worst
-Whites were typically worse than blacks for action/comic book movies. In fact, the black patrons often provided great exclamations that made the audience laugh when crazy shit would happen in the movie. Whites would keep chatting and passing around food, being noisy and snobby (especially females).
-Typically vice-versa for fantasy type movies

In my current state, i have been attending lots of morning shows due to the deals and I generally only encounter irritating under-12 seat kickers and commentators.

reason #145 why I don't go to the theaters anymore, just wait for the Blu-ray or 1080p download (if I don't really want to see the movie)...watch movies on the big screen, in the comfort of my own home. Popcorn, candy and drinks are cheap (even if I want a hotdog). THe home theater pauses the movie for me when I go to the bathroom (even if I have to take a long dump), and I can watch the movie lying in my couch, naked, and nobody calls the police!
