Ever break a bone and didn't do anything about it for 2 weeks??

I feel its my duty to warn others who might fall in this situation in the future.

I was snowboarding in Colo and feeling a little brave I went to the terrain park.
I guess I've been watching too much X-games cause I tried too much.
So I jammed my wrist on this jump and since I was on vacation I was too stubborn to see a doctor.
I even went again for another 2 days with my wrist all black and blue.
When I got back, I kinda felt my wrist felt better so I ignore the doctor again.

Another week goes by and I finally felt my wrist and getting worst than better.
So I got it X-ray and right away they tell me I wrist is broken(fractured?).
Anyway, so the doctor said my bone was already healing but its healing the wrong way.
He gave me 2 options, go for the pins or he can try to press my bones back in place.
Well, I went for the easier way out and let me tell you.........OOOOOOOOOUCH!!!
The dude was sitting there pressing and pressing my bones back...even with the pain killer I was in agony.
It took several tries before I felt something moving.

He said I was lucky, had I wait a while longer, they would have to re-break it to put it back in place.....Can you say OUWIE ???

So fellas, if you ever felt like you broke something, go see a DOCTOR.

i broke my arm when i was like 7 and didnt go to the doctor until like 4 days later. my mom called the doctors office and they told her if i could lift my arm ovcer my head than it wasnt broken. four days later it was still hurting really bad. turned out it was broken.

I broke a bone in my wrist and kept playing indoor lacrosse for another three weeks after I did it.. I just kept having my coach tape the wrist up and played.. Still managed to score 5 more goals, and eventually my mom dragged me to the emergency room when I kept soaking the wrist after every game in ice cold water to keep the swelling down..

It took about 8 weeks in a cast to heal, and another 2 to 3 weeks after than to regain strength in the wrist.. the doctors said that if I had checked it out immediately, I would have been healed completely in 4 weeks..

oh well.. lesson learned..

cheers,

I fractured my hip and still couldn't walk too well after a week. Got x-rays, and the doc said he had no idea how I was able to walk at all, but seeing as how I said it was slowly getting better he figured on just letting it fix itself. Perfectly fine one week later.

Broke two toes this year, saw the Dr 10 days later and he said "they're broken", one was snapped lengthwise down the bone between knucles. I set it myself without knowning it. After I broke them, it felt likey were scrunched up, so I stepped on them with the heel of my other foot. It popped and snapped and straightened them out. All the Dr did was show me how to wrap tape around the one that that broken the worst.
peopel at work were amazed that i walked on it for that long, I walk a mile or two on average every day at work.

Well I'm not a fella

but I did crack my humerus and never went to the doctor for it... and it hurt hella bad, but I didn't think it was broken.

I didn't know it was broken until I was getting xrays after shattering my jaw (they xrayed my lungs from several angles to make sure I didn't have bone fragments or teeth in there)... the x-ray tech asked me when I broke my arm, I told her I didn't know I had.

So there you go, girlfriend, I can totally relate. I'm glad you didn't have to have your bone rebroken, somehow that always sounds more hideous than the original break.

That is HORRIBLE!!! Made my frickin' toes hurt!

broke a pinkie catching a football wrong... I thought I had just jammed it, but when the initial numbness wore off, I looked at it, and it was pointed east, with the other fingers pointing north... I moved back into place without even thinking about it, iced it down, and wrapped it up with athletic tape...

Wasn't until about 2 weeks later during biology I think (around 7 years ago), that i realized I had actually broken the damn thing... makes afunky cracking noise when my hands get cold...

Arthritis here i come... 😛

I think I broke my tailbone when I fell down rollerblading. I thought I could jump over a curb that was 6ft long and I didn't make it and landed tailbone first on the curb. I didn't see a doctor or anything.. I didn't think anything was broken.

But.. now my back right above my ass is shaped a little funny and it will hurt when I sit down or get up once in a while.

The exact same thing happened to me (broken pinkie from miscatch playing football), except I went to the ER after the game was over and got an Xray and splint. About 3 weeks later I took the splint off. After 5 weeks I had full movement and strength back.🙂 It boggles the mind that people would refuse to get a serious injury checked out by a professional.

Got a two-handed slash to my right wrist as I deked out a forechecking forward if you can believe that. Was black and blue, now it's just a scab. Felt broken the night of... but apparently it's fine... never broken anything and still don't know what it feels like. Lost my spleen to hockey though. 😉 Give blood, play hockey.

hehe.. that's the thing... i thought at first iot was just a dislocation, so I didn't worry about it much... (done it before)... After the lights went on, I went to the doctor and he confimred with an X-ray that it was broken...

Ahhh well, ya live ya learn... 😀

Broke my wrist in 2 places a little over a year ago snowboarding. I went to the hospital and they gave me some demrol (w00t! deep sleep!) while they set it. Had to have it set 2 more times afterwards, with nothing for pain this time!!!! I never want to go through that again.

I can vouch for the arthritis if you don't get it set right away

I broke my hand in a fight and didn't get it seen about for a couple of days.....
Didn't bother me for over 20 years
Now in the winter there's one finger that won't bend all the way
if I try to make a fist 😱

2 weeks? Pshh, try 3. 😛

I broke my finger playing basketball and 3 weeks later it was still swollen and I didn't have a full range of motion back in it. I went to the doctor and it turns out I chipped a piece off of the bone. It doesn't really hurt and I've been playing basketball on it a lot anyway.

BTW, I went to the doctor last thursday - so yes, recent and still broken. Doh.

i broke my wrist when i was 12 (it was completey detached from my arm) i didint start complaining until a week later. i thought it would just go away

nope.
well, at the beginning of december (this past one) i went bowling, and my wrist was REALLY sore after that. i was afraid i broke it. but then the pain went away. but it resurfaced occasionally (after bowling coincidentally)
but then it's been gone for awhile. so i figured it was the extra torque i was putting on the ball or something with my weak wrist.. (i go bowling every week)

yeah. my baby toe is fractured or broken or some crap...the doctor can't do anything about it really cuz it's so small. so it's still healing but the only time i remember it's my bad pinky toe is when i run (pressure on foot)

Not a bone but severely sprained my ankle. I did get it checked out quickly though so I guess I don't fit the thread. Jeez, break a bone and don't do anything for 2 weeks. Ouch.

I've broken a collarbone before... got it checked up, but never went back to get it rechecked.. I actually was much more on schedule.. in about 2-3 weeks I had good movement, and didn't have much pain after the first day. It healed almost perfectly, except a small lump where the crack was.

I did break a pinky once though.. i think I cracked it or something... it never really hurt much except I coudln't crack it (now I can). I broke it when I tripped over some stuff in my room. I didn't think it was much because it never hurt except when I was cracking it.. and I still don't think it's much, except about 2 months later I realized it still hurt when I tried cracking it. It's healed up now.. but maybe I should have seen a doctor.
