Ever been skydiving?

Yea, I went tandem skydiving in New Zealand a few years ago. I loved it, I would really like to do it again. Great place to do it too.

Last summer when I was on co-op a ton of co-op students got together and did it.

I chickened out...adn really wish I didn't.

The guys that went loved it.

me and my gf went.. it was like the best adrelien pumping ever!!! i can see why people get addict to it.. do it while your heart still strong 🙂 it's quite an experience 🙂

yep, I went tandem skydiving here in Hawaii. It was the most exciting thing I ever did. I highly recommend it. From up there, the instructor even pointed out some whales that were swimming offshore.

A couple of years back a had a chance to go because I got free static line tandem jump coupon in one of those girl scout coupon books which I only paid $30 for (IT was worth it for the free jump alone). But, I didn't do it I gave it to my sister instead because she was more excited about it

I've gone a number of times. I took the accelerated free fall course back in 1990.

My brother got me into it. He went on to do BASE jumping (jumping off fixed objects like buildings, antenna, bridges and cliffs). I did that twice with him and it didn't appeal to me very much. Same with bungee jumping.

I love free fall, though. When you free fall, it's as close to flying the human body will ever feel.

I haven't jumped since 1996 mainly because I don't have the time. I'll probably get back into it when I sell the stores in ten years or so.

Hot damn, finally a thread I can relate to. My USPA number is A17721, got about 140 jumps. Haven't been in two years because of time constraints, the closest drop zone is over an hour away and with a 2 year old running around the house there just isn't a whole lot of time left over.

AmusedOne, did you do the New River Bridge? I was going to go back in '95 but I caught a sinus infection 3 days before.

Nope. My brother took me to do Half Dome one year, and El Capitan the next. It was pretty cool, but I have much more fun doing free fall. Plus, having to jump and run is no fun.

Yes, it ruled. My first jump EVER was at 4500' AGL by myself FREEFALL!!! It was scary as sh!t, but next four were awesome! 🙂

Did a tandem jump several years ago, never been so completely sure for so long that I was going to die, all I could do after the landing was blurt out 4 letter words for about 5 min.

I'm not going to do it again, but it was a fsking rush...

😀

Sounds like just the thing for me.

I'm asking since I'll get a chace to go in a month or so. I think it'll be a Instructor Assisted Deployment, jump from 3500', free fall for 4 sec, glide down.

Sounds like a good deal for $200.

I've never gone but I want to.

How old do you have to be? I'm 16 so if you have to be 18 can my parents sign me up?

Price isn't too bad - but I wouldn't say you are getting a great deal either. For $320, I got my accelerated free fall jump and a video of the whole thing. The class was 9 hours long, and the jump was from 14,000'. Freefall for a full minute and under canopy for about 5 minutes.

I've got the video sitting in my room now. The camera guy fell alongside me and taped it all.

Best money I've ever spent. I hope to go again this summer.

Ive never been personally, but my friend did it last weekend. She brought the video of it into school. Its was friggen awesome! She did a tandem of course with an instructor and I believe they jumped from 5000 feet so it was like 10 seconds of freefall or something. We tend to have good prices on jumps out here, hers was only $100 for the jump but $50 for the vid - the vid was worth it tho Im sure, really well done with sound and everything..teh winnar 🙂

I went skydiving once, for the last time!. I was dating a lady who was into it, and I decided to find out what it was about. The answer is, it's the rush. Once that chute opened, the feeling was great, but I'll never do it, again.

I have also stood on a stage in front of several thousand people, armed with just my guitar, a mic, and my partner and his guitar and mic. If you nail the perfomance and light up the audience, it's exactly the same rush. OTOH, if you blow it in front of thousands of people, you can die just as bad, but it's a spiritual death, and you live to tell about it. 🙂

The lesson is, you don't have to put your physical body in jeopardy for the rush. Unless it is going down faster than it should be, there is no sane reason for jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. There are other ways to get the rush. It's never worth risking death. 😎

I have friends who go regularly to Orange ,MA to skydive and having seen the videos and all I've vowed to go with them this year, it looks like a great time !!

I'm in Toronto, so that's $200CDN, which is like $120 US with the current exchnage. I can get 35sec freefall+5min decent for like 435 (270US), but its too much.

Well, I know that rush, since I was in an orchestra (more people = less rush, but still the same), but I doubt it'd come close skydiving.
So far the biggest rush I've had was when I was when my bike steering bar came off while I was in the middle of the street with card beside me. Could've got killed but man whatta rush!

What I'm deciding on now is if I should folk over the extra bucks for a video, I think I will and then throw a snippet of it up on the web so all my friends can watch me either having the time of my life or becoming road kill !

Nice, that must have been a blast. Have you ever done any high altitude jumps, 20000 ft+?
