Ever been grocery shopping at midnight?

I'm bored and hungry and I usually don't go to bed until 2. Has anyone gone grocery shopping at this hour? The HEB near me is open 24/7!

I used to go late at night all the time. It's nice because it's pretty much empty, but there's often only one or two lanes open, so things can get backed up. EDIT: Also, they do a lot of restocking at night at my local grocery, so there's often boxes and stuff in the aisles. Not really a big deal though.

everything around me closes at like 9-10. So far my wish list is for a 24/7 gym, computer store, grocery store, convenience store, movie store.

Yes, the HEB near me is also 24/7 but there are always stinkin college students bumming around there.

i work 3rd shift... so i do most my grocery shopping around 2-4am.

it's wonderful to be able to shop without listening to annoying sorority girls talk on their cell phone too loudly about how drunk they got last night.

Of course.
I used to work Mon-Fri from 5 pm to 5 am. I would get up Friday afternoon around 2, work all night, get off work Saturday morning and stay up until normal bedtime on Saturday night. Get up mid morning on Sunday, then stay up again until 6 am on Monday morning. Shopping at some point late Sunday helped me stay awake the last few hours. No traffic, no idiots in the parking lot, checkout lane to myself. All good.

akron area. The problem is im on the edge of the city so if I want any 24/7 goodness I need to drive 20 min and even then its limited. The closest thing is like a steak n' shake thats 24/7

Definitely fun and enjoyable.

While many people find it nice to be amongst others while shopping (ie to be in a social atmosphere) I find that I absolutely hate it. I really dislike navigating around people in grocery stores.

Shopping at night is awesome when there are few people in the store.

I've gone shopping a few times at the local walmart at 2-5 in the morning. It's pretty relaxing with such a large building to contain so few people.

It's also interested to see the other people that are shopping at that time.

I hate people at grocery stores. People can't maneuver their freakin carts for the life of them. And would it kill ya to say sorry if you bump into me with your cart-- instead of glaring at me like I should have moved? I don't care if you want the $2.99 bag of tuna and I happen to be in front of the freezer, you can wait the 5 seconds it takes me to grab the bag and get out of your way.

Ugh.

Tuna comes in bags? I did not know!

pretty frequently.

once upon a time (like 6 months ago, lol) I worked till 12 am every night... I'd go grocery shopping on my way home. it's kinda nice... much less crowded, outside of the guys stocking shelves.

Hah. So true. And many people with carts are annoyingly irrational (much like they are walking on a sidewalk--people don't know to stick to the right?!).

All the time. My wife and I hit the local Winco sometime after 1 a.m. Lots fewer other shoppers, but the night stocking crew is there, so the aisles are usually full of boxes of stuff they're putting away. Makes negotiating them difficult in the electric handicapped carts, but WTF...If I can't move it, I'll run over it...😉

ahh...I'm in the Cleveland area myself

There is a gym about 10 minutes from me that opens @ 3AM...I think I may be joining soon🙂

Just did it last Sunday around 12am. Hit up the local Walmart (free boxes - why do you think you get your FS/FT goods packed in Clorox boxes? 😛 ) and Cub foods. Was done at ~1.30am.
