ever been chased by a dog?

When I was a kid walking home from school one day, a kid popped out of the corner of another street running for his life right pass me. As I approached the intersection, there was this bulldog running towards me so I made a dash for it in the opposite direction the other kid was running.. Instead of chasing the other kid, he chases me so I jumped up a fence and it bit my pants but luckily didn't get a bite out of my leg. From that point on, I was terrified of walking home around street. Have you ever been chased by a dog? How did you escape?

You're white, aren't you?

Unless you know for certain that you are going to get away (such as right next to a fence) it is generally a bad idea to run as it activates the predator/prety instinct.

I've been mauled by a dog before. Granted, I was 2 1/2 at the time, but I havent' had any trouble with dogs since. It is pretty easy to tell when a dog is dangerous or not if you understand them.

When I was growing up there were these stories about this dog a few doors down that had taken a girls arm/hand off when he attacked her. So when I was 10 or 12, waiting for the school bus this dog ran at me - I fell backwards into a snowbank and just kept my feet between me and him until the his owner called him back. I'm not sure if the dog was actually that terrible or it was just all the fear built up from the stories, but either way I waited for the bus inside for a while after that.

three times, once from a HUGE dog I would fuck with behind a huge gate every day on my way to school. The gate was about 12 feet high so I had nothing to worry about. One day I got off the bus and the Dog was laying in the middle of the street. I said shit and started to run. I'm sure he could have caught me but I ended up running to the train overpass and jumping off lol.

2nd time a Rottie chased me, I was screaming "help somebody help!" while a bunch of Mexicans sitting on their porch just laughed and yelled "Run Piche(sp?) Rojo!" (I have red hair) White people aren't too popular in the Barrio so they wen't going to help me. By Gods grace I got away, but again I'm sure it was only because the Dog just wanted to scare me and not actually catch me.

3rd time the dude actually opened the gate when he saw me and whistled at his dog who came bolting out of the garage and charged at me. Dog got on my leg and one of his neighbors came out to help. It was a big ass Pit so I might have been done for without the help. I was bleeding, found a cop, he said "you shouldn't be walking in that area boy." and basically drove off. I didn't walk down that street to school again after that lol.

I was biking across town and back (about 6 miles each way). When I got to the more ghetto side of town, I got chased by several rather mean looking dogs. I never did that again.

Been chased by a fairly large dog before. I didn't know what to do so I stopped running and kicked its snout inwards. It stopped chasing me after that.

Several times, all while running around my neighborhood. I've never actually been bitten though. Fuck dogs and owners who can't/won't keep them fenced in their yards IMO.

I remember when I walked home from school there was these two big dogs tied up outside this house, every single day when I went by they'd be trying to attack me and barking like crazy but could not. Not knowing any better I would tease them. If that lease would have broke... I would of been so screwed.

I also had this dog grab me by the chest once, but he only got my coat so I was not harmed.

I also got bit by a dog, but it was like one of those taco bell dogs, I did not feel anything. That thing was trying to eat me, was hilarious. If I would of moved my foot too fast I would of killed the poor thing. So fragile but he thought he was all tough. 😛

Never. Probably why I have no fear of them, which is why I clench my fingers when walking by one so it can't bite my fingers off.

Don't show dogs fear. Don't ever run from them. If one looks dangerous and is running towards you, and isn't in an excited stance that indicates it just wants to jump and play... once it gets close, stomp/kick it. It is NOT hard to dominate a dog if you keep the upper hand. A swift kick to its snout does a damn good job and stopping that dog in its tracks.

Not that I've done it. I've never had a reason, I'm a dog lover and 9/10 dogs I meet try and get me to take them home I think.

But like RedSquirrel stated, if there's more than one dog, or is so close you have no time to react, and it's not a crack-addicted jack russel or similar... you might be screwed. 😛
Biggest things with dogs that look potentially fierce - don't give them any reason. Walking on a sidewalk, even if across the street, might appear to be a reason to that dog to attack. Most dogs tend to dislike seeing any movement nearby, as they tend to think that the property of their masters is much larger than it really is. So that corner 200ft away? Yeah the dog is thinking he needs to defend it.

Yeah, I've been almost bit by a police dog once. My girlfriend and I went for a walk in the park in St. Petersburg, RU. It is a former Royal Park with antique marble statues in it, and what not. So it closes for the night, and has only 2 entrances (it's free to visit). We walked up to one of wrought iron entrance gates only to find them closed. Since it wasn't anywhere near closing time, and we could see people inside, I thought the gates were closed for maintenance. Walking around the whole park to find another entrance would take at least half hour or so, so we decided to jump a granite embankment on the park edge where it borders with a water canal.

As I was hopping over, I saw a German shepherd tied to a tree, barking at me. I figured, probably some dog owner left the dog here for a minute. Not giving this a second thought, I hopped over and gave my gf a hand. As I was turning around, I came within the reach of a dog, and it launched at me and grabbed me by the arm. Luckily I had a jacket with loose sleeves, and the dogs teeth snapped the cloth, not my arm.

I wriggled myself out, and we left. About 10 minutes later as we were walking in the park, I saw police officers with this very dog patrolling the park...

I got chased on my bike a few times as a kid, but just outran them. As an adult I've been charged twice, but just drew my gun and waited. The dogs stopped and eventually backed off, so no big deal.

Nah, my mom was apparently chased by one when she was little, she ran so the the dog chased. I guess that is why I can't have a doggy 🙁.

Chased a bitten many times. Have some cool scars and posted some pics of my last attack on here a couple years ago, wish I hadn't lost them 🙂. Still have three dogs myself and no fear of dogs.

I got chased by a Pomeranian. It was all in fun. She would chase me around the yard and then I would have to chase her. She tried to bite me once and I just looked her in the eyes and growled back at her. She backed off.

That was my neighbour's dog. She was a bundle of furry hilarity. She used to jump in the pool and swim around for a while before getting out.

My neighbors had some crazy dog named Coco. I forgot what kinda dog it was but it ALWAYS got out and chased us all the time.

I got chased by a dog on my way to school in 4th grade.
I started running, tripped on something stupid on the road and fell injuring myself on my knee.
The dog caught up to me while I was still on the ground, sniffed me and left.

I was at a shock.

What happened after that?
I doubt you rode faster on your bike than the dogs were running.
