I wonder anything prompted this turn around from the CEO. The failure of Incarna should've been obvious within a week of its release, but the response, at least publically appeared rather delusional. Once you've gone off the deep end like that, simple and obvious facts are rarely going to convince you're wrong no matter how much they pile up. From the sounds of things, "we’ve taken a hard look at everything, including my leadership", I'm guessing he might have been on the verge of losing more than just his CEO title, but of being locked out of CCP completely.
 
Maybe this means that instead of adding features that nobody wants they'll add more items of interest to low-sec. That's at the top of my wish list.
 
Actually, with the exception of Rockets every time they "rebalance" a weapon system they have over done it and made it the new flavour of the month.

Yep. It was one of the things we did in W-Space all the time. Basically everyone had at least 2 accounts, and on the second one, everyone trained up a gas harvester and PI (just about ever character in W-Space had PI trained or training). And we would activate the gas cloud sites, wait a while for the spawns to happen, clear them with our combat mains, then warp in the gas harvesters who would semi-afk mine the clouds while we ran the combat sites with our main characters, periodically emptying cargo holds and restarting the harvesters on the miners as we went along. We used the gas mostly ourselves since we were making T3 components and hulls and sold those and everyone pretty much got a cut of those profits. I mean, we were a small knit group of 4 or 5 people so it worked out well that way.

How profitable was W-space gas? The stuff I harvested yesterday was in low-sec and I made about 50 million semi-AFK. I probed the site down, sent an Osprey to suck it up and kept an eye on local (it was a quiet evening in that system) while I paid bills & took care of other chores.
 
Like I said, we never sold the gas but used it to build T3 components and hulls (which we were also getting the blueprints from hacking/salvage sites, and ore from asteroid sites). Since we were doing all this, it is hard to say what the profit would be on just the gas. We made out pretty darn well and were actually looking to setup a second POS just to have more production. But then one of our players had some real world financial issues and stopped playing for a bit (dropped internet I believe), and another just was too busy, so took a break, and with that, we moved out of W-Space because there just wasn't enough of us there and active. I have been thinking of joining another corp to get back into that, a C2 with static C4 and high sec and perfect PI, as long as we had a dread and a carrier or two for protection, that to me seems to be the ideal setup. You get the best of all worlds like that. If no one is on, you simply jump into high-sec and run some missions, or probe down your home wormhole sites and run them solo in a drake. If other people are on, probe down the C4 link and run the sites in there (or do some pew-pew, or collapse it if it is empty/sucks, and rinse/repeat).
 
Wow it is amazing how much easier it is to do region trading with an orca. I've been moving so much more stuff (and so much more expensive stuff) that my profit margins have shot up >10% my previous margins and those margins are turned over much quicker as well. I made a bill this weekend, which is pretty sweet considering after buying PLEX the last few months (and with me not playing that was simply coming from what I had saved up), buying an orca, as well as all the skillbooks on the new character (who is also a freighter pilot, but doesn't own a freighter), I was essentially down to 2 bill of isk on hand, so making a bill on that is pretty sweet. I should make another run tonight as I have 1.2 bill isk on hand again (with 2.4 in the market).

That first one is a case of either crap skills and too much isk, or really, I don't even know.

And what a fail fit wolf! Both a shield power relay and a small armor rep? He should have tossed a small hull rep in one of the 2 empty low slots as well to make the fail fit complete. I mean, junk the small armor rep, put in 2 nano's and a gyro. Then you simply use speed/shield as tank and get a little more gank as well, but since it is all T1 junk I guess (asside from the hull), it still would be fail.

If I keep up this rate of making isk (which I hope I do), I can stop training my one character for a MOM and simply buy one on the character bazaar...

That said, I really want to get back into W-Space again. Anyone know any good corps that specialize in that? Preferably prefer one that has something like a C2 -> C4. I personally didn't like the C5+ areas because that turns into the same capital fleet fests that Null does, and not owning (or have the proper skills) to fly them, it is a real pain.

glad to hear that Trade is working out so well for you. My concern has been the inability to constantly monitor my orders so I can adjust as needed. I can usually get on between 4-5:00 server (Midnite-1am EST) and then once more in the morning--maybe 14:00-15:00 or so. How much micro mgmt are you having to put in to make your current strategy work?

generally speaking, the busier the station you are trading in, the more you will have to adjust your orders per day to be effective. although this depends on the item volume as well.

for example if you are just margin trading items in Jita, unless you are pretty much .01 ISK adjusting constantly, you won't have very much fun. but you can actually make more money by trading away from trade hubs. the trade volume is much less, but the margin is higher. so if you distribute your items over an area to compensate for less volume per station, you can do very well.

thanks for the feedback. So, any other strategy recommendations? I'm thinking of initially trying to sell some specific modules like AFBs/MDs or Webs/Nos/Neut for instance, rather than trying to sell a range of products, also maybe some T2 ammo like missiles.

Do you primarily sell Meta 3/4 parts? or T2? Since I generally reprocess Meta 1/2, I was thinking that those parts might not even be in demand--and I am not sure if it is easy to get a lot of Meta 3/4 parts w/out a lot of buy orders.

Finally, to be more clear, are you setting up buy orders all over the place, or buying in Jita (mostly) then moving the goods out towards low/null sec?
 
I tried the whole setup buy orders all over the place, and it was more of a pain than it was worth to be honest. I will sometimes setup buy orders in Jita or wherever I am selling, but asside from that, I have given up on them as I would spend hours just simply picking up all the gear to move it. Yeah the profits were higher, but the amount of time I had to invest was not worth the extra profit.

As for items, well, you really need to simply look at the market. About the only thing I don't sell are ships, rigs, and minerals. Anything else is fair game for me, it just depends on what the markets are saying. I will say stick to items players can't make in the beginning. The item drop rates are pretty well stable, and it is rare to see someone horde those items and dump them on the market (since they lose out as well since it drives the price down). Things that players can make, on the other hand, can easily get flooded on the market. People dump thousands of things in the different regions which the region has no capability to use the supply all the time, especially for ore and rigs. Heck, it would only take 5 people making certain rigs for a week to out-produce the yearly demand for those rigs across the entire game (let alone a region), and that happens all the time with new players coming in, buying their first blueprint and starting to mass produce something.
 
Oh and for those that have not logged in since the last update (including the many people who have been protesting), ship spinning is back and Captain's Quarters are out. Just part of what they said they would do, but it is a start.
 
Just read that statement from the CEO. Interesting turn. I think companies forget just how fickle and unforgiving gamers are. Not only that, most "pay to play" gamers are die hard fans if they are playing for years. They do not like major changes brought in simply so the company can "appeal to a more general audience". It will be interesting to see what happens. Eve is/was a very amazing game and has so much more potential, and (even though I don't play it anymore) it would be a shame to see it crumble.
