Damn near everything is a console port now. We have very few big PC games built for the PC first and foremost.

You either accept it and hope the ports are at least good, or you play very few games or just quit gaming all together.

EvE is no console port.
ARMA3 won't be a console port either...
DCS: A-10C Warthog is no console port either....

There is a lot of games out there never touched by consolittis...I game fine without the need for moronic console ports...

I said damn near, not every damn one. For every game that isn't a console port there are a dozen others that are nowadays.

Anyways.

Alliance Tournament starts tomorrow 😀

Looking forward to it. Though I am sad, I would have been part of my alliances team for it but I was not in my corp long enough to qualify 🙁

Starts tomorrow at 15:00 Eve

I'd like to know what EVE is port of though. There's been PC games with bad user-interfaces, but none quite as craptastic as EVE.

I doubt it. No one really even wants the drone regions anyways which was one of the reason why no one has tried pushing them out.

Once everything settles it will go back to all the various Russian alliances bickering and slap one another. Everyone is content with this. Russians just buy more plex for their subs and keep producing and selling super caps (for RL and in game money) and they really don't do much else besides the normal little skirmish shit.

Even though they are a potential big threat due to their wallets and size, they are rather content to stay where they are as long as no one bothers them and everyone else seems fine with that too lol.

If they didn't hire PL, they would for sure still be fighting NC or would be losing to them probably imo

I just posted this in another thread here.

Eve server went down like hour and a half maybe 2 hours ago and then the website a bit afterwards. CCP said on their facebook "EVE Online and related services experienced an Internet attack. We have taken them down as a security precaution until further notice."

I dunno why anyone would attack them. CCP has been nothing but great to their customers and community.

I'm angry cause I'm not making isk. Right now for around 3 hours is usually my largest amount of sales for the day 🙁

I was in an incursion too on my main in a good fleet too damn it. At least I was anchor so no one else has to worry about their ships being attacked and I know mine wont die 😀

It was Lulzsec.

CCP was one of the targets for "Titanic Takedown Tuesday"

I've been reading through the thread here trying to get my bearings in Eve. I'm about four days in and I'm starting to figure a few things out, but I was wondering if you guys had any tips or guidance or anything?

Do the tutorials and the sisters epic mission line.

Look for a corp that is willing to take a noob in and teach them various things and if they have a ship replacement program even better.

Other than that, it depends on what do you feel like doing? Pvp, missioning, etc. Can give you more and better advice knowing that.

I'm doing that right now (barring the downtime)!

Looking.

PvE first I think, PvP once I get the hang of wtf I'm doing. Gallente btw.

Well for pve, the most obvious thing is, mission running, which also is a good income.

I wouldn't worry about it till after you finish the tutorials and sisters epic mission line though.

As far as training goes, your core skills like navigation/engineering/electronics all the those basic type of skills you want to get up to 4 (5 really but being new it isn't major to get them up to 5 just yet). They are essential for anything you fly really and has short trains ingeneral.

If you haven't downloaded it, I suggest getting evemon, it is great to fool around with and to learn more about what you need/want in skills and make a plan for it. EFT is another great tool for seeing if you can actually fit stuff you want on a ship or what skills you need to make it happen.

Downloaded Evemon and been playing around. I'm flying an Incursus right now and i think I want to move to a Vexor, but I'm pretty clueless about fitting an Incursus well and what skills I'll need to fit either ship well.

A nice kind of guide to getting an idea to what you will need to depending on what you want to do with a ship is Battleclinic.

You can also in evemon, on the ships tab click on the link that says view battleclinic setups and it will pull up setups from there and you can look through those. It will also tell you how much training time you'll need to fit everything that fitting for a ship has as well. It is a good guide to getting an idea depending on what you want to do with the ship.

I can give any specific advice for Gallante ships cause I don't deal with them myself. I fly Amarr exclusively myself but know some about Caladari and Minnie.

Cool, thanks for the help! I'm sure I'll be back in this thread when I have some more intelligent questions.

I mainly fly Gallante ships.

Early on, you just need to get skills to 3 or 4.

Fit/Tank/Gank are the 3 main skill categories.

For mission running when you are new, typically "tanking" skills are the most important.
