Yeah the DCII is standard for any and all PVP ships I own. More than doubling your structure, and adding 15% to both shields and armor is too good of a benefit to pass up. The only ships that don't have the DC2 are ships where I don't expect to ever get into combat.

It's often said that EVE Online is a game that revolves around PvP. Even people who engage only in PvE aren't safe from the wrathful influence of other pilots. Players are almost forced to compete with each other in a ruthless open sandbox where all the rules are thrown out the window. Even in the relative safety of high-security space, the threat of harm isn't completely removed. Scams, spies, corporate infiltrations and suicide attacks are a common occurrence in New Eden, forcing players to stay aware of their surroundings and exercise good judgment. This week, a player by the name of Solarius became the unfortunate target of EVE's more ruthless player element. Solarius, CEO of Quantanamo Corporation, was running missions in high-security space in his Paladin when players destroyed his ship in a coordinated suicide attack.
What makes this particular suicide attack special is the sheer magnitude of the loss. Solarius had fit the ship with an impressive array of rare and expensive officer modules, putting the total value of his ship at over 30 billion ISK. Since a destroyed ship drops around half of its modules as loot, flying a ship with such an expensive setup is almost guaranteed to draw some unwanted attention. Pilots from the corporations Honorless Internet Jerks, Ex Obscuritas, Suddenly Ninjas, Alarm Clock Corp and Defner.org jointly participated in the attack and split the proceeds from the loot. To put the magnitude of this kill into perspective, 30 billion ISK could currently buy over 80 PLEX, which is around 7 years of game time. To buy the same number of PLEX with cash would cost over $1200 US dollars, making this a costly warning to all EVE players that you're never completely safe in New Eden.

I saw the KM in corp chat for that kill a few weeks ago. We had a great laugh. You fly a ship worth that much and you can't see warning signs, deserve what you got then. A Paladin is already extremely efficient at mission running, dropping that kind of cash officer mods is just dumb.

It was a pretty fun fight. We had 2 fleets and 3 sets of voice comms, so we were not as well coordinated as the opponents and that is deadly in a large scale cap fight. We really made them pay for that moon, though. 11 dreads killed means it'll be 2 years before they recover everything.

Yeah I was in that fight too. Lost 3 ships, and am going to go pick up replacements soon. (actually lost 4, since one was in a carriers ship maintenance array that went down). It was fun though. Killed more dreads in one day than I have in my short Eve Career.
Now that my alt has good scanning skills my latest side-project is to make him a competent blueprint researcher. Does anyone have a link to a good online research guide in EVE? I've found several but they're all several years old, and I'm not really sure what has changed since then.
I just reactivated after a long break. I'm in the middle of a Level 3 mission (Gone Berserk) with my Rupture, it's taken me 4 hours so far I'm only half way through it. I probably shouldn't have tried it but I had forgotten most of the details on missions so I didn't realize it would be this rough.
I seem to remember that L1's are usually doable in a frigate, L2's are usually doable in a cruiser, L3's are usually doable in a Battlecruiser, L4's are usually doable in a Battleship. Doing a level 3 with a cruiser would probably be difficult.
I haven't run a mission in over a year though, but that was the way I remember it.
As far as I can tell, nothing has changed. It is hard to research unless you have a POS to research at though. We have plenty of people in alliance with research POSes, and you should be able to use one of theirs. (mine doesn't have Research capability)
Interesting. I thought research was like manufacturing, and you could just use a lab slot at a station in high-sec.
You can, but you should check the wait times on those research slots in high sec. Difficult to find one that isn't at least 30 days.

That one is easy, unless you want the bounties for killing everything... Unfortunately you probably are past the point where you can make it easy (unless you wait for the reset). All you have to do is target both of the left most spawn ships, and then one from the other 2 groups of 2. Kill one from each of the groups of two, then finish killing the second ship in the left group. Then simply kill all the new ships that are spawning, leaving the other two ships that originally spawned alone. Mission will end once you kill off the left most group and all the ones that trigger after it.
That said, the bounties are not bad in that mission (for a L3), and are worth killing if you can do it at some decent pace.

I did too, and I've been running the occasional L3 mission for the Khanid Navy. In a Drake, the missions are pretty mind numbingly boring as there's no danger whatsoever to my character (i.e. shields never get down below, say, 85%). I do have good skills on this 70M skillpoint character, so that might have something to do with it.
My real problem is that I need to find something interesting to do in this game or I'll just quit again. However, I don't have the ability to consistently invest time into it.
Go to lowsec. Find someone ratting and blow him up. It will get your heart pumping and you will enjoy the experience if you haven't done PvP yet.
I know you can do anything in EVE, but I really think PvP is where it shines. PvP in EVE is so much better than any other MMO.

Get into an active corp. Preferably a pvp centric one. Eve is not a fun game if you don't have a decent corp you are in.
This is my main. Not sure what my main goal for him is. I haven't done any PvP yet. I've spent most of my EVE career just flipping skills when I didn't have a lot of time to play while my account has been active and running a couple missions every day when I did so my skills are all over the place.

True. I would have quit if I didn't join Diplomatic Disruption, and didn't get into an active PvP alliance. While I haven't been extremely active lately, I still have fun playing and blowing up other ships. I was bored to death just running missions and doing other carebear activities before (it is fun for a while, but it gets boring as it never changes).

Anyone looking for a PVP corp to join? Me and a friend created a corp a few days ago that specializes in high sec warfare/merc work. We wanted to make it a vet only corp with 30 mil + sp pilots who, like us, experienced most of what Eve has to offer and just want to relax with some high sec warfare.
We're willing to take people with 20mil sp assuming you can fit a ship well. We have like 4 contracts on the table we want to fill but don't have the members to do so. You get paid for every single kill and every single op you go on. We really don't care what you want to do as long as you participate in fights.
We spent most of yesterday trying to bait a Caldari Navy Raven. It consisted of 3 hours of smack talk in local pissing off a couple of carebears. It was absolutely hilarious. I ended up losing a manticore due to being too eager to get a kill but meh, carebear whining was delicious. We also have 2 war decs going up if you want to get in on that.
So if you're interested Join "Eve Net R" or hit up Oktacon, or Sideon, my friend. I promise you great times and laughs.

The obvious choice is a Rifter, but it really depends on your ISK income. If you can easily afford to lose 50M, then I would suggest a Hurricane. Those are awesome in that they are fast, have a decent tank, and hit relatively hard to nearly any kind of target.
If you have good shield and missile skills, the Cyclone is actually a very good solo missile boat. It is fast, with a good tank and good damage. What it lacks is free midslots to fit extra tackle/support equipment like webs, sensor boosters, cap boosters, or ECCM. So it isn't really that popular for PvP (as with all shield tanked ships).
