Truth. That is actually WHY I love EVE so much. I hit the gym every other day, and even when exam weeks crop up and I don't log on for more than 2 hours in the week my character is still making substantial progress. It's like an end of the week present when 7d of training went by without even batting an eye.

Heh, it's not like I became some crazed addict. I just went overboard a bit, and the game will feel a little more fresh if I step back for a week or so.

I took about two months off, and when I came back I could fly a fully T2 fit Blasterthron, an Arazu, and an Oneiros; plus I could use T2 Sentry drones. I thought this was awesome, until I went to pay for all that stuff.

I finally got my head back above water, then I accidentally killed and podded a blue alt. That set me back another 200M ISK replacing the 6 stealth bombers he was transporting + other equipment. Oh well, it happens.

But yeah, it is nice to be able to take time off and still have progress in the game. It helps clear your mind as well to get away from any politics in the game.

What I really miss is when you could cancel your subscription for a month and you could keep training whatever skill you were on until it was complete. I get why CCP disabled that, but knowing I had a long skill completed did help motivate me to come back to the game a couple times.

I used to love doing that too. Thats how I got my Caldari BS to 5...took about a month off and just waited it out.

Started playing again after a number of months off. What is up with Eve and AA? I was playing previously at 1920x1200 with interval x1(which I assume is 2xAA) on a GTX260 and now I'm still stuck at this same AA level. Now using a 5870 if I try to use interval 2(4xaa?) I drop down to between 20-30fps. Poor coding. Also wth can't they add a larger font? Even on a 24" monitor a size 12 font is killing me.

Anyway what corps are you guys in? Does anandtech have a corp?

Ahh. There can be benefits ISK wise, but what we do we do because it is fun. I look around for ships/fleets roaming around in our general area, then I get together a fleet and blow them up. The ISK made is really just in the loot you get from the destroyed ships. (This amount will vary greatly from ship to ship, and isn't really a reliable source of income.)

The real way to make isk, is likely what you already do. Run missions, play the market, run plexes (and I guess mine, but that never seems all that lucrative for how boring it is.) We aren't focused on ISK at all, and I have maybe offered ransom on 4-5 targets out of the ~500 I have killed. It isn't getting ISK that is fun to me, but the combat. Especially when they have a well organized fleet and provide a good fight.

The presentation interval setting has no affect on anti-aliasing, it affects whether the game vsyncs and/or triple buffers. There's no option for turning anti-aliasing on in the game.

Mission running will make you more ISK than mining and after you've got some experience it's not very difficult. Mining in an industrial like the Badger however, is the worst way to mine. Use one of the mining frigates or cruisers that have a bonus to mining.

You can mine using containers either by using jet-cans or giant secure containers. With jet-can mining you jettision your first load of ore, creating a jet-can automatically. As you mine more ore, put it into to the jet-can. Once you've got a hauler load or ore, dock your mining ship and come back in your hauler (eg. your Badger) and collect the ore. The problem with this method is that any one can steal your ore and people will.

Using giant secure containers (GSCs) keeps your ore safe from theives, but you can only anchor them in systems with a security rating of 0.7 or less. Buy one or two GSCs, assemble them, take them in your hauler to a belt, anchor them them there, and then set a password. It's imporant that you set the password after anchoring or they're not secure. Then mine with your mining ship, dumping the ore in the GSCs. When they're full, come back in your hauler and empty them.

You can also use GSCs to expand the cargo carrying ability of your hauler, as they can carry a bigger volume of stuff (3900 m3) then they take up in your cargo hold (3000m3).

If you want to make mining your primary source of income in EVE you should check out some of the mining guides on the WWW. Don't mine in low security space, you can find ores in high-security space (currently Kernite and Plagioclase) that will make you more ISK per hour than any of the low-sec ores. Don't buy a Procurer, they can be out mined by cruisers.

Historically I love the rush of stealing from a much more powerful ship or group of ships and maybe even swooping in a second or third time ewhen they are expecting me. I can't express the thrill of such a success. So yes there are definetly worthy tradeoffs to isk.

Mining isn't worth it really. Only way to make it somewhat worth it is if you have an alt or friend with you and have an Orca/Rorqual boosting your miner and you need to stick to the high value ores still. Mineral prices are just crap now. Mining never was really a great money maker as every other way of making money was better, but now even more so due to crap mineral prices.

There are a few guys in my corp that are hardcore miners but they can field their own mining ops solo. I'm talking 3 hulks + either an Orca or Rorqual each and they are mining ABC ores.

Hi sec the best way to make money is lvl 4 missions, that is one of the best ways period to make money unless you have manufacturing down or some good trade routes.

Since I live in 0.0 I make most my isk from either plexing or anomalies. Over the weekend with 2 corpmates we were chaining anomalies and each got escalations for a 10/10 plex so we did those and scanned down a few other 8/10-10/10 plexes. We each walked away with about 950m each for the weekend.

HeXploiT, personally, I like doing missions with a fleet (soon to start doing WH space with them once I get a few more key skills up). There is a lot of money to be made in the market, and it is not something that takes a lot of time to do, and it is something that continues to generate money even while you are away from the game. In fact, looking at my character in eve gate, I see that I have made 4 million today from sell orders (this is profit, not net). As was previously suggested, there is a decent amount of money in ammo sales. I buy low, transport it a few jumps, and sell high. Right now, I am getting a 50% mark-up on the stuff I am selling.

This is what I am using to fund my main character. Now, I havn't lost any ships (yet), that is only because I have been lucky and had good teachers in the game so far. I came close to losing my BC (armor tanked hurricane) in a lvl 4 mission when the room decided to agro me, but my tank held long enough to kill the tacklers and let me warp out. Warped back as soon as I could since the warp out/back time was plenty for my tank to be repped with my fit.

If there is one thing that I can tell you, it is to not fly anything you can't afford to lose. It makes this much more of a fun game. I have 2 BC's, 3 cruisers, and 8 rifters (a frigate) at my corp staging area. If we are war dec'ed, I will be flying T1 fit rifters, because I can afford to lose them. The only time I would consider going out in the battle crusiers or cruisers is if we have a monster gang with a lot of BS's that would get primaried long before I would in my BC.

A plex is short for complex. It is similar to a mission, but a MWD will work, and the loot can be far more lucrative. On the average 6/10 plex in our space, you will make about 200-300M ISK each time, but I usually have two friends to run it, so usually <100M ISK each. Sometimes you get good drops that are worth far more, but usually it is worth around 200-300M ISK. (Corpi A-Type EANM and the A-type Medium armor repairer were worth around 600M ISK IIRC; haven't gotten anything worth more than those two yet; but I haven't run a plex in a few months.)

60-70m a day? You mean an hour? There's no way you're only doing 65m/day with hand-in rewards, loot/salv (if you bother), and LP.

This is what I was going to say. Of course I count LP in the payoff, and while I ran missions I would bring my alt in a salvaging thrasher and scoot around and loot/salv while my main was killing/tanking. Did it all while watching TV. Fairly certain 50m/hour was pretty common.

When I grind L4 for standings I bring a Paladin or CNR, nighthawk and either a domi or mega. About 150-160 million SP in combat skills on the field.

Let's just say the gating factor is how quickly I can mouse between windows and lock rats. 35M/hour is about my average income from that clickfest not counting loot, salvage or LP. That's about 3-4 quality L4 missions/hour. Not great, but meh. The point is standings.

I only loot and salvage battleship wrecks within range of my paladin. So the recent loot nerf didn't affect me in the least.

I only play 3-4 hours at most, and super casual at that. I passive tank a NH and usually leave my drones flying around killing everything, occasionally shoot a volley of heavy missiles to kill the BS's. But yeah 60-70 mil in about that time w/o loot and salvage....
