Thank you for the advice. Would slapping shield extenders on my Badger be likely to do me any good? Here's a question for the more experienced EVEers. How likely am I to get suicide ganked if I'm flying a badger full of cargo around high-sec on autopilot? As I mentioned in a previous post I've started hauling missiles & ammo out from Jita to systems where these items sell for more money, but doing 15 or 20 jumps manually gets boooooring. Is it reasonably safe to hit the autopilot once I'm out of Jita, or is that a good way to get my Badger blown to pieces?

Since you will be using a badger, I'd say as long as your totally of goods you are hauling isn't above 40-50m you should be fine, especially considering it is ammo. But remember, sometimes people will suicide gank you just because you are afk and a badger is a easy target to take out. So there is always a risk, but usually ppl don't bother if they are going to lose isk in the process.

Any little bit helps, so yes. Basically if someone is going to suicide gank you, they will only get off a few volleys before they are concorded.

Ok, thanks. I don't mind some risk, and I figure I make a decent enough profit that if I get blown up on 1 out of 20 hauls I don't really care. I'd just hate to see half of my ships getting popped.

From what I understand Concord response time is slower in lower sec systems, so it sounds like autopiloting through 0.8 and 0.9 systems is safer than 0.5 or 0.6.

While suicide ganking haulers is much more common in 0.5 systems than elsewhere, I think this is mainly because sicide gankers can stay there longer before their security status falls to the point where they become kill-on-sight in the system. They don't fit their ships expecting to get a second volley.

I'd strongly suggest just not using the auto-pilot, especially given the current market conditions. Historically, suicide ganking has required an organized team. Someone a jump or two ahead to passively scan cargos, someone to sensor boost a tackler, an hauler to get the loot and a sufficient number of battleships to guarantee that target ship does in fact get ganked. While ships are no longer selling below net insurance payout like they were before the expansion, they've fallen in price to where the net cost of a ship is still very low. This means less organized gangs can afford to suicide gank. One or two ships trying to attack any hauler they see, plus their own hauler to collect the junk. Generally this means they only catch people using auto-pilot and the value of the cargo doesn't matter much.

It's not that hard to manually jump 20 systems and you'll do it in less than half the time. I use the time to surf the Web using the in game browser, watch TV and chat. I find it one of less tedious things to do in EVE because you really don't need to be paying much attention.

In any case, do not auto-pilot through the 0.5 systems around Jita. Don't auto-pilot through any of the choke point systems (0.5 or not) leading up to Hek on the route from Jita. You might get away with it if you fly during off-peak hours, but if you do it during the busy hours it's not going to be long before you get ganked. If you're in a hauler then these systems are much more dangerous than most low-sec systems.

I actually had some time today to spend a few hours missioning, was going to finance some of my PewPew. 🙁 Although, I did get a 100 Wachovia Gift Card recently, I may just transmute that badboy into 1.5 bil ISK instead. 😛

I'm building up a lil extra stockpile, I'm getting closer to flying a dreadnaught (Revelation), have about 4 months of support skills to finish training but I should get into one.

Can't wait, I love dreads and will use that when there are others that can fill in the void of me not flying my Damnation 😀

Yeah, my skills finished around 21:00 today. I figured an extra 6 hours or so would be fine, but I was going to throw in a nice 5+ day before the servers went down. Unfortunately I was working on my computer most of the day/evening and didn't get things back up and running until after the servers went down.

What was the last word, a matter of minutes at 24:10? Shortly after that the website took another nosedive as well.

That is true, and I wasn't too surprised when things got pushed back the first few times. Hell, I was even amused by all the people whining. But now they are saying mid-afternoon Thursday. They pretty much took their initial prediction, multiplied by 8, and added a few more hours for good measure. That is a little much for me.

I made sure that my skill que was long. Moving servers combined with CCP = a guaranteed longer DT.

And I just spent 13 = hours on a plane anyways, so it isn't like I could of been playing anyways. In HK now on the way to Singapore.

Dunno, I'm hoping they give at least 2000-2100 sp an hour though, hopefully more, I'm currently pulling almost 2600 an hour with perception primary skills.

The downtime lasted like 30 hours, so we can hope for maybe 60k SP, maybe.

Does anyone remember what effect if any the last Hulkaggedon had on ship & mineral prices? From what I recall there was no significant effect, but I'm curious if there's a money making opportunity here.

Hardly any, and with the market being so saturated right now, there wont be any effect in min or Hulk prices. We might see an ever so slight raise in Hulk prices but I doubt it is anything worthwhile, there are tons of them on the market currently to fulfill Hulkaggedon.

Frankly the better option if you want to have an affect on market commodities is to start targeting haulers with Planetary Interaction products, mainly POS fuels. Since the NPC fuels have been removed from the market any serious cut into the supply will likely affect the market. Just make sure you're doing some PI stuff so that you can benefit from this yourself 😉.

Problem is, battleships are no longer cheaper than free after insurance payout. It actually costs ISK in addition to sec rating to suicide people now. Even if hulkageddon happens it'll probably be much smaller than the last events.

I used to gank about half a dozen to a dozen hulks and mackinaws a week across my accounts. That came to a complete and utter stop with the insurance nerf.

As far as POS fuel: you're better off just doing a market manipulation. The amount of fuel you get from ganking even 10 haulers is miniscule compared to what you can simply lock up in your own inventory.

They don't give any actual stats, not sure if they're in the EVEDB download or not, but what's hinted at is interesting. Apparently this ship has a small sig radius which means it'll take longer to target it. And they mention two bays which leads to some interesting capacity possibilities. Depending on what the stats are for the ship it could be worth something on the market. At least I won't have a shortage of them since I have 3 active accounts 🙂
