Eve Online client source code leaked

Link to story at Slashdot.

Rumor has it that CCP is seeding and/or monitoring torrents, and banning accounts associated with ip addresses of people downloading the torrent. They are also rumored to be removing forum posts on the subject, and banning accounts that post about the subject.

In this post, someone claiming to be Ryan S. Dancey, Chief Marketing Officer for CCP claims that there is no advantage to be gained from manipulating the Eve client. A counterexample to this would be the old Goonfleet client which allowed a player to determine at a glance which players in the local system had negative standings. Hacking the client to give more information to the player than that which is available to other players who follow the rules gives an unfair advantage.

I'm posting this to facilitate discussion. I do not advocate doing anything that harms the game, even though I no longer play it.

D'oh... I did a quick look and even searched for Eve Online. Oh well, I guess I fail at teh internets.

Mods, please delete.

Yeah well this is all really suspect since you can decompile python to make it 'seem' like you have source code when in fact you only have the source of what they don't care you knowing about.
