Nope, not assuming that at all. A properly fit combat frig should be able to wax a retriever long before the retriever pilot can hope to pop the frigate, drones skills or no. The thing has no fitting options to speak of.

I'd wager 100mil isk that I could pop any mining viable retriever you can make, and I'll use a T1 frig to do it. Hell, I'll even let you pick which race the frig comes from.

By 'mining viable' I mean strip miners in the high, mining utilities or cargo in the lows. Youknow... retrievers people actually MINE in. None of these Nuet/Armor tanked things designed for baiting people.

My retrievers (I actually had 2 of them at the time) were sitting in the ice belt in Piekura with full pvp fits (one ice harvester each, to maintain the illusion of actually mining), for the purpose of killing this guy.

I had set up a mining spot somewhere deep in the belt, and after popping him, I noticed that he was still flashy red when he warped to the main belt bookmark in a Caracal, probably to figure out what to do next. I had my third character, who I had been using as a hauler and who was in station at the time, warp in right on top of him in a pvp fit Nighthawk, and I made short work of him once again. The smack in local was great :)

I think eve is the only game i've constantly given money to and never played it. I keep thinking to myself I will spend the time to play and and enjoy it but get bored after a month. I got 32 million SP and never really enjoyed it. :(

Oh, and since this is a corp recruitment thread, I may as well plug one of mine.

One of my characters is CEO of a more carebearish corp, currently with 6 members who all are friends in meatspace. We're looking to expand so that we can help a friend's corporation police a wormhole they've been extablished in for several weeks.

We're looking for mission runners primarily, but indy pilots are welcome as well, as we'll have the opportunity to mine in WH space once our numbers are bolstered a bit.

For those a little nervous about PvP, we'll begin regular "training" ops into lowsec mostly funded by the corp wallet to cover losses. Once everyone is comfortable and we've got the numbers, we'll be setting up shop in WH space with our allies.

Send a message to XiaoMaoMi in game if interested.

Well i still have hope for the game.

I wish they would make a area in the game that only people with certain SP invested can go pvp. I would of liked the game a LOT more if that gradually let you get into pvp than just learning it that hard way. The problem I found and others I've talked to is the cost vs reward is very bad for people inching into pvp.

That is why my corp helps newer players. Or players new to PvP.

If you want PvP with more safety wings, try Factional Warefare.

That was true for me. I think I had 10 kills before my first death, because I was fighting in fleets with my corp and was a low threat (so I wasn't primaried). Since then, I have 8 more kills, but 6 deaths, because now I fly ships that are more of a threat, and I am flying in smaller fleets (usually 3 or 4, vs. 8-10 like before). (Killboard) I have learned something from each fight so far, and probably will continue to do so for some time. It is the funnest part of the game for me, even if I do die quite a bit.

I think this would be a very different game, and I doubt it would ever be done. The devs wanted a game where violence could happen virtually anywhere at any time.

If they did do such a thing to EVE, I'm guessing people would quit in droves. :-(

An example of the types of fights you'll be in as part of my corp:

Outnumbered but winning anyways

Under gate gun fire and attack by over 2-1 odds, we still won.

I'm sorry for the rigs on my ship (Myrdin Potter), it was a conversion from an earlier active tanked version. I rig my Domi's different now. The area of low sec we live in have Blood Raiders in the belts and plexes which is great for armor tanking and capacitor control rigs.

I'm also glad that a few others have put offered slots in their corporations as well.

So if you're interested in PvPing with good support for other activities and few to no manditory call to arms, look me up in game (myrdin potter) or send me a private message here.

Hey Michael,

My question is if I join your corp, I assume with all the shootings going on, my security status will be -ve? I do trade alot, and need to be at my high sec station very often. Will my low security status precent me from visiting high sec station?

Stay above -2.0, and you will be fine. Running L4 missions makes your security rise in a hurry. Mine is currently at -1.9 and I plan on runing mission until it is around -1.5, so I can go back to low sec and shoot people again :D

How security status affects where you can go.

The biggest issue is not keeping your sec status high enough to go into high sec (look at my stats and I almost never go below -2). The biggest issues will be kill rights and wars. For the most part, we use hauler alts in npc or alt corps to slowboat around high sec. If all you need to do is place the orders, then trading is not an issue if you have a hauler alt.

If you kill enough people, you'll eventually run into the kill rights issue. The other issue is war decs. We get war decced every couple of months. When it happens, it uusally lasts for 2-3 week and during that time you're a target in high sec as well.

One way around that is killing in worm holes. We find tons in our area and kills in worm hole space don't hit your sec status. Plus a lot of them lead to 0.0 and again that is a free killing ground. We also roam to 0.0.

lmao. Thats so sweet. I played this game for like 1 month plus the 14 days freebie. I loved it but I just would get sucked in completely so I stopped.

As weekends go, last weekend was pretty quiet. For some reason, we get visited by famous eve characters from time to time. Last weekend was a guy named LordChaos who is a "forums warrior" anti-pirate. After hiding in a station for quite a while they finally managed to get some friends to help and we had a pretty even rumble at the gate:

Another small fleet fight

They had a logistics ship remote repping them and we got a little scattered jumping through the gate at them. Their geddon and damnation deagressed and got out in deep structure. Pretty fun fight.

Here is another fight with Eve "famous" people. garmon (who is selling his character now) war decced us. Unlike the CVA corp that they tore apart, we fought them long and hard. They tried to fleet fight us and then had to resort to commndo type raids after we kicked their asses pretty hard.

2 Garmons die (el'tar is his alt as well)

They get annoyed and try again and get stuffed

They bring friends and we stuff them again in a fleet fight

One tiny mistake and they kill me in micro seconds

I posted this link before, you can see us in action at the last Alliance tournament. I was in the catalyst that "exploded" right when the fight started.

Tournament fight that we won

Tournament fight that we lost but it was fun

We've been raided quite a few times the last few days, so this would be an exicting time to join as we're fighting a lot more often.

We managed to deal with the raiders, and now are planning several roaming operations. Once we got more organized, the raiders were easier to deal with, but they did often outnumber us.

I have been asked a couple of times if we would accept "noob" characters. Our only requirement is that you you have a full account (not trial). We wil ltry and help and train newer players. We're not Eve University, but you can ask the people that have joined us - we do train and develop you.

If you're an experienced player that wants to join a PvP Allaince with a looser structure and very few CTAs, we;re a good choie too.

We're currently split between our low sec home and 0.0 space (extended roam).

You can contact me here in this thread, via pm or in game as myrdin potter.

There have been a couple of other corps in this thread that are also willing to consider new members. Eve is much better when you're part of a corporation, and I know that mine is active and growing.

If you want to learn to PvP, then this is one of the best alliances out there. I swear, other than Invicta and a few others, all other corps/alliances just aren't very good at killing other ships. I am glad I joined this corp, as I can't imagine I would know as much as I do if I didn't.

Most of the people in our alliance have been playing for 5 years or more though, so there aren't a whole lot of active newbs like me. Most of us like fighting more than anything, and actively search out other gangs to engage. At the same time, we have a great manufacturing base that both pays for our PvP and allows us to buy nearly everything at lower prices than you can buy from Jita.

These are just my opinions, and I am a relative newb (so they don't come with a lot of experience). There are probably other very good PvP alliances. (Invicta has been the only one that has impressed me thus far, but a few others have been adequate.) This is just the only one that I know of that is accessible to newer players.

ok, I am downloading the trial now. If I decide to active my account, which is the better way to go, the retail box $39.99 but 60 days of game time, or via download? Thanks

I downloaded it. The retail box, I believe, comes with a special ship that you can sell on contract for quite a bit of ISK, so that may be worthwhile. (I would wait until you really understand how much it is worth before you do so, however.)
