Yes they are. Any word, if used by the masses that speak the language in question, can become part of the language. The English Language is not set in stone and has new words added to it all the time.
E.g., The word Interface was not used in the 18th century, but it is currently a valid word.
Language is like the Borg, it assimilates and improves, for EVAR!
