It's not criminal, otherwise you'd go to criminal court rather than the municipal building right?

Anyway, that was pretty much my mistake when I got my last ticket, according to my dad and the lawyer. The cop didn't turn on his lights and just sat there and let me take my turn. I thought I was SOL, so I just pulled over and then he turned on his lights. My stupid ass mistake that'll cost me over $400, but no points.

speeding is technically not a criminal offense. It's a civil traffic violation. Once you step up to reckless and DUI it's a different ballgame.

1 part of me says WTG and my logical and rational part says WTF were you thinking.
I bet there's still a chance that they nail you, but if not. I hope you never pull that crap again.
Talk about endangering yourself and others.
GL with your driving future if you keep up that behavior dude.

Reckless driving and putting the lives of others in danger to avoid a simple ticket...real smart.
Remember that cutting in front of others at a relatively high rate of speed can lead to really, really bad things, especially when you're cutting in front of semis. What happens if they are caught off guard and lock up the brakes, even for a second or two? Do you know how much damage they can do? How many families can be destroyed with stupid driving like this? Could you live with that? Don't people think about the consequences of their actions anymore?

Oh is that what happens for evading the police? I wasn't talking about his speeding ticket.

BTW I also suspect the cop was going after someone else. You can evade the cops, but it's not so easy as hiding behind some traffic!

I remember when i was 16 and driving my yamaha around. I had been on a bad luck streak lately and got a couple of tickets..was heading down town and passed a cop going the other way. I just knew by the look in his eye he was coming back. Quickly I pulled in to Dairy queen and ran inside and ordered a banana split.
Meantime sure enough they pulled up along side my bike and set there in there car waiting.

I proceeded to eat the slowest banana split recorded in recent history..while they watched....eventually they backed out and left..I waited a few more minutes then high tailed it out of there...
To this day I am suprised that worked.

I pulled a similar move a few years back...only there was no semis to hide behind. As soon as I passed the cop, I moved to the far right lane on the interstate and slowed down with my hand brake so my brake lights wouldn't light up. The car in front of me got pulled over and I sped back up to 80mph to rejoin the other traffic. Cops sometimes need to fullfill quotas and it's getting later in the month. In the police depts here, they get a small bonus if they write enough tickets.

Yeah, you just THINK you got away with it!!

Somewhere, today's version of Buford T Justice is sitting in his squad car, muttering to himself how he's gonna get "that sumbitch Bandit"!!!

My personal best was getting pulled over, right after crossing the San Rafael bridge (12:30 am on a Sunday morning), for 70+ in a 55 zone (and yes, I'm probably dating myself there!! LOL). That bridge is shaped like an upside down W (up, down, up, down), and the cop lost sight of me at the top of the second rise, when he was clocking me as exceeding 70. When he got sight of me again, I was back down to ~60mph, so he couldn't write it for over 70.
The funny part was, I made certain to pull over AFTER the exit for San Quentin prison..... just in case!! 😀

I did that before. I had a cop coming after me so I took an exit real fast. The problem was that a police helicopter was in the area and put its light on me. So I accelerated up to 180 mph and left the police helicopter behind. I normally wouldn't have done this, but I was really drunk so I wanted to minimize my time on the road. Before anyone blasts me, I was still alert because I did a few lines off a prostitute's ass beforehand.

Later on, me, the prostitute, the cop, and the police helicopter all went out to Baskin Robbins to celebrate and talk about good times.

Nice move. Good to have a handbrake. My SUV has that damn foot brake so I need to push it all the way in to disengage it. 🙁

I was driving on the passing lane of 695 today, for once there weren't any left lane jockies slowing me down. Then out of the corner of my eye I saw a cop staked out with a radar guy. Tried to slow down.. too late.. he nailed me. He pulled off the side of the highway and hit his lights to come collect his tax. What I did next surprised me because I'd never think I would do this.

As soon as I saw the cop hit his lights I accelerated hard to to get ahead of two long semi trucks on my right. I then quickly changed two lanes to the right and slowed down to ~50mph. Then I changed over to the right most lane and was prepared to make a very sharp turn on the next exit. This all happened in about 10 seconds.

After this move the cop ended up a couple hundred yards ahead of me. I don't know if he lost me or didn't feel motivated to battle highway traffic but he went and pulled over a pickup truck further ahead on the highway. The only thing that scares me is that I did this without even thinking, but I got away.

Somehow this reminds me of 'Smokey and The Bandit'.
Nice move but you got lucky. Next time = SOL

How fast were you going when you noticed the cop?

If that was aimed at me, I was going ~67-68 mph in a 65mph zone. That's where my needle was anyway. With the way speedo's are calibrated, I very well may have been going 65 on the dot.

I accelerated to 85 though. Slowed back down to 65 after putting some distance between us and then he rode my ass again for a while, then finally pulled me over. I still deserved the ticket for taking off, but that doesn't take away from him being a dick.

Cops don't pull you over for going 3 mph over the speed limit unless you are in Mayberry RFD

Hence the "him being a dick" part. He got me to take off and go about 85. My ticket was for 82. If I wouldn't have took off, I wouldn't have gotten the ticket.

Next time brake test him. If he fails you are rich and we have one less ahole cop on the streets, if he succeeds he will just write you a ticket anyways.
