European Track Days

I'm planning a trip for Germany and other parts of Europe for a couple weeks next summer/fall. I know there's a few UK residents here and maybe from a couple other countries. I already plan on doing the whole 'Ring thing.. but curious to know how track days in Europe/UK are done and if they're available to non-residents.

Are there organizations that have rental services?
Pricing?
How does experience factor in (say I have over 15 track days here in the States)?

I'd like to drive on Silverstone and Hockenheim, maybe fit in another. But I know nothing about the lesser known tracks.

Any info would be great for planning purposes. 🙂

As far as I know you need to use your own car to do a proper track day, same for the Nurburgring. There might be rental agencies that will lend you a car, but I imagine it will be very expensive.

Silverstone and most other UK tracks do "experience days" where you can drive with an instructor around the track in various sports cars. That's probably the best option for you.

I saw the "experience days" and they do seem a bit lacking. I recall a Lotus one was like £250 for less than 10 laps. Somewhat hoping there is a vendor you can rent an Elise for the day. Some of the actual track days have 2 1hr sessions which seems right up my alley, just need a car.

For the Nurburgring you can rent cars from shops VERY close by, good selection of rides.
I did this 2 years ago and will be doing it again this year.

Awesome! Great to know as this was what I was planning to do.

I've driven Thruxton a few times. It's a great track and has a very fast back "straight" (it's not 100% straight, but you can go flat out).

You can drive a 458 or any number of exotics at Thruxton, but the single seaters or the Exige are a real treat.

Also, check out http://www.palmersport.com/

The track looks fun (and fast). I also like they have a karting program next door. I'll also have to look at that the Palmer Sport thing.. the half-day program doesn't seem too bad for the price.

Track days are open to anyone with a car and a brain, I assume you'll do the Nurburgring? Just check the websites of the tracks you want to do and you're in! IT's not that expensive. One word of warning, normal insurance will not cover track days, so either pay more, or be prepared to pay for a written off car...
