Good news from Europe: your ISP can't be forced to monitor or block you from using the Web. A European court has ruled that record labels and film studios can't use the courts to instruct your broadband company to track you or try to block you.

Talk about a 180 compared to america, the odds of sopa passing now seem slim to none now that europe basically said no to any blocking/filtering of copyright infringing sites.

If it's a site in Uzbekistan and it's being accessed by a Zimbabwean citizen on holiday in Equatorial Guinea then the United States has no business censoring it.

If it's a US citizen accessing an Uzbeki site from the US then arrest the American.

The United States is not the global police no matter how much it tries to assert itself as such.

quite often it's the companies own fault.

example: if I want to watch the newest southpark episodes I have to pirate them, I can't legally stream them from anywhere, I can't buy them in stores and (danish) tv channels are still rerunning episodes damn near a decade old.
if I want to see them I can only pirate them.


instead of making it harder to pirate their product they should make it easy to obtain it legally. I haven't pirated a cd ever since I started using itunes, especially because I can just buy the tracks I want.

look at blurays, they've been drm'ed to death, it's easier to rip them rather than just watching it on the disc.

We have a problem with theft of property yes.

But we also have a problem with a record company forcing us to listen to music we do not want to. And by deliberately removing the music we want to hear.

For example :
On youtube there is music removed on order of record companies. Music that is well over 40 years old. Why are record companies dictating to what kind of music we can listen to ? Record companies are not losing any money over people listening to music that is over 40 years old or even over 60 years old. Yet there is a continuous trend going on that music is removed from youtube. Music that would have been bought, because people like it or have fond memories from an event where such music was played.

That is what is wrong. People are forced to listen to crap such as pitbull and those other idiots. With such crap music, i am even amazed that there are people who would even download such crap. My own computer just refuses to play such crap.

Why should music have to be free. It belongs to the artist that created it and the rights of reproduction agreed to. They (ownership) have the choice of putting it out for public domain.

Why draw the line at 45. Southpark is less than 10. Nothing you have should by older that 10. Education should be returned after 10. Enter workforce. No paychecks for you after 10 years.
Value is something that is jointly determined by the provider and consumer. Without an agreement, the item should not be transferred. To take without permission is THEFT.
