EU tells Israel to withdraw...

In other news, the french appear to be drafting a plan to surrender to the Israelies in the event of a hostile exchange of words

lol😀

Im tempted to say "so what, its eurpope", but a unanimous vote on this seems to indictate the US is standing alone, save for Powell.

It's this very crap from the UN that has allowed this to go on so long. They wont let the Israelis do anything decisive, only half ass. It's time for the Israelis to ignore the UN and do what they need to do to secure their safety.

What (which?) invasions and bombings are you referring to?

Oh, I don't know. 1948, 1956, 1967, the 1967-1970 war of attrition, 1973...

If those are what he is referring to, I would point out only 6 of the current 15 (soon to be 28?)) current countries in the EU were in it prior to 1973. The size and complilation of the EU is drastically different. To hold against the EU decisions made (or not made) 30 years ago when it was completely different doesnt seem right.

the eu and un are pointless they dont do anything only tell people what to do.

remember in vietman? the south called for help and the un did nothing

IRAEL SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO DEFEND ITSELF

They've been ingnoring the UN since '67 so why stop now.

Besides I wish other countries would just 'get it', WE are the god of this world and what other countries say means didly - this ain't no international democracy.

And man once again fails to bring about peace.

(the only way man will ever have peace is for one strong person(or group) beat the rest of humanity into submission, and basicly become a "big brother", there will never be peace otherwise)

<< The EU called on Israel to immediately implement the U.N. Security Council resolution passed last week calling for a ceasefire, Israeli withdrawal and cooperation with U.S. Middle East envoy Anthony Zinni. The resolution passed the Security Council by a 14-0 vote with Syria abstaining. >>

seems pretty reasonable to me...

Sure, sounds reasonable. Perhaps they can reason with the suicide bombers while they're at it too. EU president says it's okay "to fight terrorism" but not the "Palestinian Authority power structure." I guess the EU hasn't seen the CNN report about the document invoicing "a Palestinian Authority finance official to the group behind...suicide bombings." This links the PA with terrorism and voids the EU president's statement. The UN and EU resolutions have no teeth anyway because noone wants to send in troops. Why is it no nation wants to send troops in the Palestinian areas? Because of the suicide bombers, silly.

Indeed, the EU are very reasonable folks, but the terrorists aren't very reasonable, are they? Truthfully, I don't think the Europeans or the US can solve the Middle East crisis until they recognize the real problem there. Who have most to gain by creating more violence? The Palestinians with their main supporters, Iran and Iraq or the Israelis? Iran and Iraq don't want a peaceful region in the Middle East, especially a peace brokered by the western countries.

Yet the cowards won't draft and vote on a resolution to make the Palestinians stop blowing up and killing civilians...just shows you which they care more for ... oil or human life

Fark Palestine..I think its time we sponsored an Israeli campaign in Europe

Israel restrained from retaliating just like they promised us for about a week or so..In this time the Palestinians were successful in 3 suicide bombings and 11 were attempted, the Passover day massacre was not acceptible and led to the Israeli retaliation.

During the Gulf war, the US told Israel to stay out of it as we needed the help from the other Middle Eastern states and they would rather die than be on the same team as a jew.. Iraq launched countless missiles into Israel and they exercised restraints..I would dare say they lost more people in the conflict then the US did and they didn't even participate.

Israel has tried treaties and negotiating, they have tried cease-fires, they have tried retaliation..

The only thing they haven't tried is a total occupation under martial law until the resistance movement has been crushed.

I say to the EU, pull up your pants, straighten up and be a man vs a Middle Eastern whore...

I think you are way overstating the actual effects of Scud Missile Attacks on Israel during the war. As a weapon of war the SCUD sucks big time. It is more a weapon of terror and political pressure. In this case pressuring the Israelis to do something massively unwise, which they wisely resisted. It was in thier own self interest as a nation not to respond to this obvious trap set by Saddam Hussein who had few actual military cards to play.

Thier were approximately 38 Scud missiles fired from the Iraqi desert at Israel in 18 seperate attacks over a 39 day period. Many of these broke up in flight, two landed in the water, many landed way the hell away from populated areas. Israeli government and Human Rights Watch reports indicate that 14 Israelis were killed, although some of those were due to heart attacks and things like people not taking thier gas masks off when needed.

I am not sure about the US casualty counts, but it was way more that 14.

The only thing the EU cares about is the oil they get from Iraq.

Anyone who believes they really care about the Palestinians or Iraqi people and not about the disruption war does to their oil business is sticking their head in the sand.

And Iraq is using that money to fund their weapons of mass distruction projects, not food for their people.

I suppose it MAY sound like a reasonable request to anyone who didn't have , say, their 6 year old grandaughter blown up at the Passover meal by some looney Allah seeking pubescent wench accessorized with a pair of C4 suspenders and matching belt.

One could easily argue that Bush doesn't really care either way about ending the israeli/palestinian and that he's just using them in order to get arab support for a war in iraq.

only if you include those that were killed by friendly fire..that does not disprove my thesis that the EU is the Middle East's slut and plaything
