Does any one of these block outside noises better than the others?

I think that depends more on the tips you use than the plugs themselves. Based on my brief review of head-fi when choosing a new set, it seemed like etymotic was regarded as the best at noise-cancelling, but it probably was due to the flanges and not anything else.

I tried the ER6is last summer and could not get the same sound isolation that I was able to get with my Shure e2cs. the fanges did not work for my ears

I must note that people seem to get radically different experiences depending on the tip types used. Personally I am a soft flex lover :)

My Shur e2c's were about $85 at Circuit Sh1tty. The reason I chose those was robustness, they're built tougher than the er6i's, and I use them on my motorcycle where I'm not exactly gentle with them. The e2c's have held up exceptionally well. Whatever you go for, you'll love isolation earphones. I'm never going back.

noise blockling earphones on a motorcycle... I'm betting your post count won't exceed 9000.

I just ordered a pair of the 716i's from amazon; thanks to whoever posted the tip.

It will be nice to compare them to my er6i's that i got half a year ago (coincidentally, also from buy.com, also for $80).

Don't skimp and just get an Etymotic ER-4S with a Little Dot Micro+ amp. Live concert sound on the go!
