This is a friends computer, and it has a problem of the computer just stopping. No output to the moniter. It takes two times to start the computer up. The first time the computer stops at the boot-up of the Windows desktop, the screen goes blank. In order to restart it you have to unplug it from the power supply. You can start it again then Windows goes through Scan disk and it will run for awhile. If I put in a DVD movie it will play the movie over and over again for hours with no problems. But if you just leave the computer on it will die all of a sudden, at no regular set time. All power managements schemes are off, so that the moniter stays on, etc. The power supply has been changed once, the original one would die in the middle of a program or just booting up. Do you think it's the power supply or the M/b ? Appreciate any input. Thanks

It sounds like it could be the power supply again. What kind did you get as a replacement? I think Emachines have to have a special small psu. Does the whole computer just turn off in the middle of something? If so that is problebly a short in the psu, that just happen to my parents computer. Here is a link where you can buy a special Emachines PSU. LINK
