Really. I don't understand why it's so hard for OP to find the brand and model# of the modem/router he owned/leased. 😵

If it's a Motorala/Arris as he said, he doesn't even need to look at it to get the model, he can just type 192.168.100.1 in a browser, and he will have all the information he needs.

The page said took too long to respond.

The current one is branded Xfinity with no mention where I can see of Arris or Motorola, I guess those were previous ones.

It's 10.0.0.1 for the Comcast gateways. Possibly 192.168.1.1

Run ipconfig and use the default gateway.

192.168.100.1 works when you have separate modem and router config.

Since apparently you can see it, you could always just look at the back and see if it has more than one network port. You seem to be trying to make this more difficult than it needs to be. It shouldn't take anywhere near three days to figure out if it's just a modem, or a router too.

Guys, this is Craig234. It's his M-O. It's not like he's just clumsy around this stuff. He is intentionally obtuse about everything he asks for help for here. Just provide the advice needed or not, if what he's providing isn't enough to assist with, then don't assist would be the best answer.

I echo the sentiments of other posters here. See if there's another Network Port, see if it's a router or gateway. Others have asked for the information needed to make this easier for them and you've chosen to hold it back for whatever reasons you have, so that's the limit of my concern with it for now.

As suspected, it has a built-in switch with multiple ethernet ports. Get an ethernet patch cable, plug in the computer. Done.

I think that's the same Gateway I got with my $10/mo Comcast service. I swapped it for a Arris 8x4 Docsis 3.0 modem / N300 router combo, that *I* own, in hopes that it would disable Comcast from using my connection for a Hotspot (also have it disabled on their web site, but I've heard that doesn't always work).

Thanks for this thread, Craig, that reminds me, gotta pay my bill by today.

Glad it was of some help🙂 Does that one you bought have the phone also? I bought a '6141' to replace it then found it doesn't have all the same stuff, oops. Sitting in a box.

No, it doesn't have phone, it is basically a 6141-equivalent (looks like it), with an N300 router built-in. It was only $30 shipped from Newegg, new.
