Ethernet Splitter

I have a Wired/wireless ethernet router in my home office. I have 2 Directv HDVR players in one room because 2 people = 2 choices. Rather than run 2 seperate ethernet cables down the hall, is there some sort of Ethernet splitter that allows 2 systems to operate at the same time but watching different programs ? I know about an ethernet switchbox, but that is not what I need. Do they even make an ethernet splitter, similar to the cable tv splitters or usb splitters ? And I can't go wireless because only one of my tv's has that capability. Thank in advance ! Larry

What kind of switch is needed? regular unmanaged I am guessing?

Which port in the router should it be plugged into? one of the 4 main PC ports? or does the router need to have a special port? i.e. all routers do not support it.

Is there anything that needs to be done on the router's control panel/software/admin settings?

Any switch should be fine. Yes, unmanaged.
Connect it to one of the Switchports on your router. Your typical SOHO Wireless Router is 3 devices in one - a Router, Switch, and Access Point. You should be able to connect it to any of the switch ports (sounds like your Router has 4 of them).

Probably don't need to do anything at all with the router's configuration.
