Ethernet on my tablet?

Not that I know of. Wired internet on a tablet, even smartphone, would be a good idea IMO though.

You could use 3G/4G, that is via the mobile telephony network and not an ISP or TCP/IP.

Might be possible. Afaik some tablets will work with some usb devices like kb/m, 3g dongles, and gps dongles. Problem is every tablet is a little different. Then you have issue like the Wii had with 3rd party USB>Ethernet adapters, where some would work and others wouldn't.

A quick search turned up this, which is for the Xoom.

I believe what is also alternative at no cost is to share your desktop internet connection via USB with phone. HTC devices supports this.

The long-short is that there is no officially-supported solution then? I had rather expected that. Can anyone recommend a very simple and portable device to setup a small, private Wi-Fi off of an Ethernet port? Something with a preset password that I could just plug in and log-on would be the ideal.

Thanks!
