ethernet does not work, but usb works.

I have a scientific atlanta 2100 modem. basically, my internet died a couple days ago. But, when I connect via usb, rather then Ethernet port, it works fine.

My internet provider says it's my computer's fault for not being able to detect the ethernet cable. But, I have 3 computers and all 3 are having trouble. Personally, I don't believe that all 3 of my computers can simultaneously have issues with the Ethernet port all of a sudden.

How do I troubleshoot and fix it now since my internet provider is no help?

Replace the ethernet cable with a new store bought one. If you're not getting link light then it's the cable or the port on the modem or the NIC (which you're pretty much ruled out, but not completely).

Based in what they claim that is your computer?

If they claim that their computer can tell this diagnosis from remote they are probably Nott telling the truth.

Try another cable. and if does not work

Unfortunately the capacity to diagnose customer's local devices (including the Modem) from the remote ISP's computer is Vastly Exaggerated by almost all ISPs. It is used many time as mean to exonerate their responsibly, and delay providing support.

You best approach is to demand an ISP's Tech. coming to you location and showing you with their devices that the Modem works. In most caese this Tech would bring with him a new Modem, and if your indeed is "Kaput" he would replace it with the new one.
